Background Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important cause of nosocomial infection and may lead to septicemia and death. We evaluated the immunogenicity of semi-purified exotoxin A from the bacterium in a mouse burn model.

Abstract Members of Bacillus cereus have been documented as important bacterial pathogens in aquaculture. However, scarce information is available on B. cereus isolates as causal pathogens of big‐belly seahorses Hippocampus abdominalis. In the present study, a B. cereus isolate (SH1), recovered from a disease outbreak on a seahorse farm, was identified

Crystal Structure of Exotoxin A from Aeromonas Pathogenic Species
Aeromonas exotoxin A (AE) is a bacterial virulence factor recently discovered in a clinical case of necrotising fasciitis caused by the flesh-eating Aeromonas hydrophila.

Here we report a case of PVL‐negative MSSA necrotizing pneumonia in a previously healthy man that rapidly progressed to cavitary lesions and refractory pneumothorax. Despite its improvement after clindamycin‐based therapy, the patient experienced recurrent pneumothorax and chronic respiratory failure.

Virulence Factors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Induce Both the Unfolded Protein and Integrated Stress Responses in Airway Epithelial Cells. [PDF]
Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection can be disastrous in chronic lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Its toxic effects are largely mediated by secreted virulence factors including pyocyanin, elastase and alkaline

Introduction Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a leading cause of severe nosocomial infections worldwide. This opportunistic pathogen is associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates due to its high levels of antibiotic resistance. The identification of novel therapeutic targets is therefore a pressing global health priority.

Identification of a Chitin-Binding Protein Secreted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]
One of the major proteins secreted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a 43-kDa protein, which is cleaved by elastase into smaller fragments, including a 30-kDa and a 23-kDa fragment. The N-terminal 23-kDa fragment was previously suggested as corresponding to

Biofilm‐related infections significantly contribute to bacterial diseases, with estimates suggesting that at least 80% of such infections are associated with biofilms. These infections often involve opportunistic pathogens, which not only influence the type of infection but also impact the microenvironment by interacting with other polymicrobial ...

Cloning, Expression and Evaluation of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Exotoxin A
Background: Nowadays, in many studies related to the treatment of various cancers, toxic compounds are targeted against cancer cells. One of the most effective compounds is Pseudomonas exotoxin A.
