Structure-activity relationships of an exotoxin of Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1977
The relation of the structure of Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A (PA toxin) to its enzymatic activity (adenosine 5'-diphosphate-ribosyl transferase) in vitro and to its toxicity in vivo was examined. PA toxin is produced as a single polypeptide chain with a molecular weight of about 71,500.

Dietary Probiotics Improve Growth, Immunity and Disease Resistance in Fish Against Aeromonas hydrophila Infection

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Probiotics offer a promising alternative to antibiotics for managing Aeromonas hydrophila infections in aquaculture. Dietary supplementation of probiotics increases fish health, growth performance, and immune responses, while reducing antibiotic reliance in fish farming.

Alginate Biosynthesis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Comparison of Coating and Film Formation Properties of Bacterial Alginate With Brown Algae Alginate in Beef Thigh Meat Shelf Life

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Current study results indicated that Pseudomonas aeruginosa alginate and brown algae alginate exhibited significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) in the morphology and physicochemical characteristics. The mechanical features of brown algae alginate films were significantly (p ≤ 0.05) more superior to Pseudomonas aeruginosa alginate films.

Prophylactic and therapeutic protection of human IgG purified from sera containing anti-exotoxin A titers against pneumonia caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2019
Antibodies are effective alternative tools to combat infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA), especially multi-drug-resistant PA. Thus, to solve the urgent need for an anti-PA antibody drug, we hypothesized that anti-PA intravenous ...

Membrane-translocating peptides and toxins: from nature to bedside [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Today, different functional classes of bioactive peptides and toxins isolated from diverse sources of living organisms are known. In medicine, these polypeptides present the potential to be used structurally unmodified or to serve as templates for ...

Analysis of transcription of the exotoxin A gene of Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1986
Analysis of RNA isolated from Pseudomonas aeruginosa PA103 and PAKS grown under Fe2+-limiting (0.08 microgram/ml) and Fe2+-sufficient (10 micrograms/ml) conditions demonstrated that exotoxin A (ETA) expression is regulated by Fe2+ at the level of transcription.

Antimicrobial Efficacy of a Taurolidine‐Based Antimicrobial Compound on Contaminated Surfaces Simulated in a Standardized 4‐Field Test

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 7, 16 February 2026.
As implantable medical devices become indispensable to modern medicine, a silent threat grows alongside them: device‐associated infections. Despite decades of antibiotic innovation, infection rates keep climbing, costing lives and billions in healthcare expenses.
