A mitochondrial pentatricopeptide repeat protein enhances cold tolerance by modulating mitochondrial superoxide in rice

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Cold stress affects rice growth and productivity. Defects in the plastid-localized pseudouridine synthase OsPUS1 affect chloroplast ribosome biogenesis, leading to low-temperature albino seedlings and accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Structure of a functional ribonucleoprotein pseudouridine synthase bound to a substrate RNA. [PDF]

open access: yesNat Struct Mol Biol, 2009
Box H/ACA small nucleolar and Cajal body ribonucleoprotein particles comprise the most complex pseudouridine synthases and are essential for ribosome and spliceosome maturation. The multistep and multicomponent-mediated enzyme mechanism remains only partially understood.

Chemistry of Fluorinated Pyrimidines in the Era of Personalized Medicine

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
We review developments in fluorine chemistry contributing to the more precise use of fluorinated pyrimidines (FPs) to treat cancer. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is the most widely used FP and is used to treat > 2 million cancer patients each year.

A Novel Multimodal LC–MS/MS Panel for the Comprehensive Diagnosis of Neurometabolic Disorders in CSF

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Metabolic testing of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is essential for early diagnosis of neurometabolic disorders. However, the large number of differential diagnoses, the phenotypic variance within a clinical picture, and the disease rarity complicate targeted metabolic diagnostics.

Purification and properties of a mammalian tRNA pseudouridine synthase.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1982
A tRNA pseudouridine synthase has been extensively purified from steer thymus extracts, using undermodified tRNA from hisT- mutants of Salmonella typhimurium as a substrate. The enzyme synthesizes a group of psi residues in the anticodon region of various hisT- isoacceptors and behaves like a eukaryotic homologue of Salmonella tRNA psi synthase I.

16S ribosomal RNA pseudouridine synthase RsuA of Escherichia coli: Deletion, mutation of the conserved Asp102 residue, and sequence comparison among all other pseudouridine synthases

open access: yes, 1999
The gene for RsuA, the pseudouridine synthase that converts U516 to pseudouridine in 16S ribosomal RNA of Escherichia coli, has been deleted in strains MG1655 and BL21/DE3.

HSP90-dependent PUS7 overexpression facilitates the metastasis of colorectal cancer cells by regulating LASP1 abundance

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2021
Background Pseudouridine synthase (PUS) 7 is a member of the PUS family that catalyses pseudouridine formation. It has been shown to be involved in intellectual development and haematological malignancies.

RNA Modifications: Current Understandings and Future Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Types of RNA modification. We have summarized the currently common types of RNA modifications, including ac4C, m6A, m1A, m5C, m3C, m7G, and ψ, and visually characterized their features through structural formulas. The characteristic structures are marked with a background color different from the background color.

A novel unanticipated type of pseudouridine synthase with homologs in bacteria, archaea, and eukarya [PDF]

open access: yesRNA, 2003
Putative pseudouridine synthase genes are members of a class consisting of four subgroups that possess characteristic amino acid sequence motifs. These genes have been found in all organisms sequenced to date. In Escherichia coli, 10 such genes have been identified, and the 10 synthase gene products have been shown to function in making all of the ...

HIF1A-repressed PUS10 regulates NUDC/Cofilin1 dependent renal cell carcinoma migration by promoting the maturation of miR-194-5p

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2023
Background Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is characterized by a high rate of distant metastasis, which leads to poor prognosis in patients with advanced RCC.
