Biosynthesis of Pteridines in Insects: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesInsects
Pteridines are important cofactors for many biological functions of all living organisms, and they were first discovered as pigments of insects, mainly in butterfly wings and the eye and body colors of insects. Most of the information on their structures

The role of urinary pteridines as disease biomarkers

open access: yesPteridines, 2017
Pteridines and their derivatives function as intermediates in the metabolism of several vitamins and cofactors, and their relevance to disease has inspired new efforts to study their roles as disease biomarkers.

Data on urinary pteridines as a discriminator of atherosclerotic risk in patients with diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesData in Brief, 2022
Presented here are the supplemental data of the research article “Urinary pteridines as a discriminator of atherosclerotic risk in patients with diabetes” [1]. These data provide the first information on variables that affect urinary levels of pteridines

Urinary pteridines as a discriminator of atherosclerotic risk in patients with diabetes [PDF]

open access: yesAtherosclerosis Plus, 2021
Background and aims: We have recently proposed urinary pteridine level as a useful biomarker of oxidative stress in a general population. However, the significance of urinary pteridines in patients with diabetes is unknown.

Pteridines and Lipid Metabolism [PDF]

open access: hybridPteridines, 1998
The effect of 9 different pteridines on fatty acid incorporation into phospholipids as well as on cholesterol and phospholipid content was compared in vitro using rat liver homogenate, Krebs-Ringer phosphate buffer containing 0.3 % albumin (pH=7.4 ...

Analysis of the Influence of Changing and Fixed Temperatures on the Growth and Pteridine Content in the Head of Adults Sarcophaga crassipalpis (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) [PDF]

open access: yesAnimals, 2023
Flesh flies (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) are regarded as significant in medical and veterinary entomology, and their development models can be utilized as considerable markers to ascertain the minimum postmortem interval (PMImin).

Highly Efficient Generation of Germline Mutations Using CRISPR/Cas9 in the Speckled Wood Butterfly <i>Pararge aegeria</i>. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We demonstrate the efficient use of CRISPR/Cas9 to generate germline loss‐of‐function (LOF) mutations in the speckled wood butterfly (Pararge aegeria), an ecological model species. Targeting the yellow‐y gene, we achieved nearly 80% mosaic LOF phenotypes in adults and high germline mutation rates in offspring.

A New Synthesis of Pteridines [PDF]

open access: bronzeNature, 1949
THERE is a growing biological interest in derivatives of pteridine (I: R1, R2, R3, R4 = H) as a source of antagonists for folic acid (I: R1 = OH; R2 = NH2 ; R4 = H; R3 = CH2.NH.C6H4.CO.NHCH(COOH): CH2CH2COOH-p), since this vitamin plays an important part in the growth of certain bacteria and normal and malignant tissue.

Pteridines, XCVI. Synthesis and Reactions of 6-(1,2,3-Trihydroxypropyl)pteridines

open access: yesPteridines, 1990
Various hydropyrano [3.2-g] pteridines (7, 10, 12, 21 , 33) were oxidized to the corresponding 6-(1,2,3- trihydroxypropyl)pteridine derivatives (8,9, 11, 13,32, 34), which are valuable intermediates for the synthesis of new 6-substituted pteridines (15 -

Synthesis of 7-Acyl-2,4-disubstituted Pteridines by Radical Nucleophilic Substitution and Displacement Reactions

open access: yesPteridines, 2004
2,4-Disubstituted pteridine derivatives (1-3) react with acyl radicals very selectively in position 7 by a nucleophilic Substitution mechanism (4-10).
