In this study, we tested whether white and yellow morphs of the common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) adopt alternative strategies shaped by the immuno‐competence handicap hypotheses (ICHH). We found that testosterone‐induced immune suppression was stronger in white males, while aggression decreased in both morphs.

Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) of EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of riboflavin 80% (vitamin B2) produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC SD‐8628 as a nutritional feed additive for all animal species. The

Neopterin-induced Suppression of Erythropoietin Production In Vitro
The production of neopterin increases in several diseases with activation of the ceIlular immune response. As previously shown serum concentrations of neopterin are inversely correlated with blood hemoglobin concentrations in the anemia of hematological ...

Urinary and Serum Pteridines in Liver Diseases
The aim of this mini-review is to show the usefulness of pteridines as clinical markers. We assayed urinary neopterin and xanthopterin levels in liver disease. Total pterins were oxidized by active carbon to yield xanthopterin.

Syntheses of highly functionalised 6-substituted pteridines
Methods for the synthesis of polyfunctional 6-substituted pteridines from the corresponding 6-aldehydes are described. Alkene, ester, ketone, amide, cyano, oxime, bromo, methoxy and dihydroxy functional groups have all been introduced principally through

Characterization of Underivatized Pterins by Laser Desorption Fourier Transfonn Mass Spectrometry
Laser desorption FfMS provides a powerful method for examining the structures of underivatized pteridines. (M + Na)+ and (M + K)+ ions are generated by laser desorption and can be used to determine molecular weights. The negative ion spectra provide more
