Electrochromic lithium nickel oxide by pulsed laser deposition and sputtering [PDF]

open access: yesSolar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 1998
Abstract Thin films of lithium nickel oxide were deposited by sputtering and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) from targets of pressed LiNiO2 powder. The composition and structure of these films were analyzed using a variety of techniques, such as nuclear-reaction analysis, Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS), X-ray diffraction, infrared ...

Pulsed laser sputtering of the (100)GaAlAs surface

Journal of Applied Physics, 1996
We have studied the pulsed laser sputtering of (100)Ga1−xAlxAs (x=0.545) surface with 337 nm photons, starting from the threshold for particle emission (a few tens of mJ/cm2) up to about 300 mJ/cm2. Atoms and molecules sputtered from the irradiated surface are detected, their relative number measured, and their time of flight determined using laser ...

Quantification of self-sputtering and implantation during pulsed laser deposition of gold [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2008
This work reports on the quantification of self-sputtering and implantation occurring during pulsed laser deposition of Au as a function of the laser fluence used to ablate the gold target. The experimental approach includes, on one hand, in situ electrical (Langmuir) and optical (two-dimensional imaging) probes for determining, respectively, ion and ...

TiC coatings prepared by pulsed laser deposition and magnetron sputtering

Surface and Coatings Technology, 1997
Abstract Tribological properties of TiC coatings grown by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and magnetron sputtering were investigated. The PLD TiC coatings grown at room temperature were found to be much harder than the TiC coatings grown by magnetron sputtering under the given experimental conditions.

On the gas dynamics of laser-pulse sputtering of polymethylmethacrylate

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1991
Abstract The laser-pulse sputtering of polymers should have two limiting cases. In the one there is ongoing release of particles from the target surface, the particles then form a Knudsen layer (KL), and there is finally an unsteady adiabatic expansion (UAE) (‘effusion’ model).

Primary and secondary mechanisms in laser-pulse sputtering

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1992
Abstract Primary sputtering mechanisms are conventionally grouped in terms of the categories collisional, thermal , and electronic . With pulsed photons one must. in addition, consider the emission of droplets and fragments in thermomechanical processes.

Plasma diagnostics of hybrid magnetron sputtering and pulsed laser deposition

Surface and Coatings Technology, 2006
Abstract This paper investigates the use of advanced triggering to synchronize a pulsed laser ablated plasma from a ceramic target with a pulsed DC sputtering plasma from a metal target for the purposes of depositing nanocomposite thin-films at low substrate temperatures.
