Photo‐induced Desulfurative Processes for Carbon Radical Generation

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 15, Issue 20, October 20, 2023., 2023
Photo‐initiated desulfurization of sulfur‐containing derivatives such as, native thiols, thioethers, sulfonium salts and xanthates, allows the generation of carbon‐based radicals that can be coupled with various partners providing access to a wide range of functionalized molecules by C−C and C‐heteroatom bond formation.

A Route to Indoles via Modified Fischer Indole Intermediates from Sulfonanilides and Ketene Dithioacetal Monoxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
An S−N variant of the N−N‐based Fischer indole synthesis has been developed. Treatment of sulfonanilides and ketene dithioacetal monoxides with a powerful acid anhydride provides N‐sulfonyl‐2‐methylsulfanylindoles.

Blue‐LED Synthesis of Pummerer's Ketones by Peroxidase‐Lignin‐Catalyzed Oxidative Coupling of Substituted Phenols

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 26, Issue 32, August 21, 2023., 2023
Horseradish peroxidase activated by hydroperoxide of 2‐MeTHF catalyzes the synthesis of Pummerer's Ketones under blue‐LED Photon irradiation in the presence of meso‐TPP. Lignin nanoparticles worked as an electroactive platform in improving the activity of the enzyme.

Chirale Synthesebausteine aus Aminosäuren: Dihydrothiazol-Derivate (Δ4-Thiazoline) aus Cystein

open access: yesCHIMIA, 1989
Reaction of cysteine with pivalaldehyde and protection at the nitrogen atom with benzyl chloroformate give the diastereomerically pure cyclic N,S-acetal 2 which is selectively oxidized to the sulfoxide 3.

A Blueprint for Transforming Indigos to Photoresponsive Molecular Tools

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 29, Issue 43, August 1, 2023., 2023
Indigo dye is one of the most iconic compounds connecting chemistry to our society. In addition to providing the characteristic blue color, indigos display fascinating photochemical properties. This Review first discusses the synthetic construction and derivatization of indigos. Then their photoswitching and photoinduced electron transfer behaviors are

Organophotocatalytic Mechanisms: Simplicity or Naïvety? Diverting Reactive Pathways by Modifications of Catalyst Structure, Redox States and Substrate Preassemblies

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 15, Issue 11, June 9, 2023., 2023
Organophotocatalysis: Which pathway to go? This review exemplifies influences of organophotocatalyst structural and redox programming, to select for a particular excited‐state mechanism among a diversity of potential mechanisms. It showcases how such strategies are exploited for catalyst‐substrate preassemblies that overcome common reactivity issues ...

Enantioselective Pummerer-type rearrangement by reaction of O-silylated ketene acetal with enantiopure α-substituted sulfoxides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Chiral non-racemic α-substituted sulfoxides have been allowed to react with O-silylated ketene acetals in the presence of a catalytic amount of ZnI2 in THF to give chiral non-racemic α-siloxy sulfides in >99% ee.
