Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Analysis of ELM stability with extended MHD models in JET, JT-60U and future JT-60SA tokamak plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The stability with respect to a peelingballooning mode (PBM) was investigated numerically with extended MHD simulation codes in JET, JT-60U and future JT-60SA plasmas. The MINERVA-DI code was used to analyze the linear stability, including the effects of

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

Operation Optimization of a Microgrid based on Minimization of Power Loss and Improvement of Voltage Stability

open access: yes, 2023
Microgrid is receiving more and more attention, which is considered one of the solutions to efficiently supply electrical energy to loads. During the operation of the microgrid, the power loss and voltage stability of the microgrid are the main ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

An overview about operational measures in the framework of Second Generation Intact Stability criteria

open access: yes, 2021
The Second Generation Intact Stability criteria (SGISc) addresses ship stability in waves, focusing on specific dynamic-based phenomena, i.e. parametric roll, pure loss of stability, dead ship condition, surf-riding and excessive accelerations.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Head and trunk movement strategies in quiet stance : from the deficit of vestibular loss to the expertise of tightrope walkers via prosthetic feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Is the head more locked to the trunk or stabilised in space during quite stance? Does prosthetic vestibular feedback have a positive impact on movement strategies and muscle synergies of those with vestibular loss?

Unlocking the Potential of Li–Ag Alloys: Phase Selection and Practical Application

open access: yesEnergy Material Advances
Dendrite formation, contact loss, and continuous formation of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) preclude the practical use of the energy-dense lithium (Li) metal.

Effect of a flower-like nickel phyllosilicate-containing iron on the thermal stability and flame retardancy of epoxy resin

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Flower-like nickel phyllosilicate (Ni-PS) was synthesized via the mild hydrothermal method. The generated Ni-PS containing ferric (Fe@Ni-PS) was then characterized and introduced into epoxy resins (EP) to prepare EP composites.
