Novel Pure-Pursuit Trajectory Following Approaches and their Practical Applications

2019 10th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Infocommunications (CogInfoCom), 2019
Pure-pursuit algorithm is a popular trajectory tracking algorithm, widely used in mobile robotics and vehicular control for numerous reasons. The operation is simple and straightforward as it depends only on the kinematic model of the target mechanical system.

The improved pure pursuit algorithm for autonomous driving advanced system

2017 IEEE 10th International Workshop on Computational Intelligence and Applications (IWCIA), 2017
The pure pursuit algorithm is one of the hottest research fields of autonomous driving advanced system as well as a major means for realizing intelligent operating of autonomous driving advanced system in future. This paper presents a thorough research on GPS automatic navigation technology of autonomous driving advanced system considering that working

Stability and pure shape equilibria for beacon-referenced cyclic pursuit

2016 American Control Conference (ACC), 2016
Cyclic pursuit systems provide a means to generate useful global behaviors in a collective of autonomous agents based on dyadic pursuit interactions between neighboring agents in a cycle graph. Here we consider a modified version of the cyclic pursuit framework in which a stationary beacon provides an additional reference for the agents in the system ...

Imitative Reinforcement Learning Fusing Vision and Pure Pursuit for Self-driving

2020 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), 2020
Autonomous urban driving navigation is still an open problem and has ample room for improvement in unknown complex environments and terrible weather conditions. In this paper, we propose a two-stage framework, called IPP-RL, to handle these problems.

Visual distance estimation for pure pursuit based platooning with a monocular camera

2017 American Control Conference (ACC), 2017
We detail a sensing method used as a redundant sensor in automated vehicles. A monocular camera can be used to determine the bearing to a target, and this work extends the sensor capabilities to estimate the distance to the target. For a 640×400 pixel camera, the distance estimation has a 3m sensing range. A modified pure pursuit algorithm is presented

GPS-Based Curve Estimation for an Adaptive Pure Pursuit Algorithm

2017
Different algorithms for path tracking have been described and implemented for autonomous vehicles. Traditional geometric algorithms like Pure Pursuit use position information to compute vehicle’s steering angle to follow a predefined path. The main issue of these algorithms resides in cutting corners since no curvature information is taken into ...

The search for a “pure” visual memory test: Pursuit of perfection?

Clinical Neuropsychologist, 1992
Abstract Factor analyses of clinical memory tests have demonstrated that scores on tests purported to measure “visual memory” load highly on visuoperceptual and visuoconstructional factors with modest loadings on measures that define general learning and memory.

Simon McBurney’s Ambitious Pursuit of the Pure Maths Play

Interdisciplinary Science Reviews, 2014
When Simon McBurney set out to create a play about the fabled relationship between Cambridge mathematician G. H. Hardy and the self-taught Indian genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, he was immediately confronted by the question of how to engage the mathematics authentically.

A Linearized Model for the Kinematics Equations of the Pure Pursuit Guidance Law

AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference and Exhibit, 2004
This paper describes a lineralized model for the pure pursuit guidance law kinematics equations. The linear model is derived using a linearization along trajectory that approximates the pure pursuit from the starting point to the interception. Unlike the classical linearization, the linearization coecien ts depend on the initial line of sight angle and
