The Utilization of Coconut Coir as Supplementary Feed for Beef Cattle Production

open access: yesCaraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture, 2022
High feed price is a major problem in the production of beef cattle. Therefore, this study aims to determine coconut coir's technical and economic potential for beef cattle feed.

Inhibition of Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase by Aminoimidazole Carboxamide Ribotide Prevents Growth of Salmonella enterica purH Mutants on Glycerol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The enzyme fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBP) is key regulatory point in gluconeogenesis. Mutants of Salmonella enterica lacking purH accumulate 5-amino-4-imidazole carboxamide ribotide (AICAR) and are unable to utilize glycerol as sole carbon and energy ...

Nucleotides: Structure and Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Nucleotides consist of a nitrogen-containing base, a five-carbon sugar, and one or more phosphate groups. Cells contain many types of nucleotides, which play a central role in a wide variety of cellular processes, including metabolic regulation and the ...

Ubiquitous purine sensor modulates diverse signal transduction pathways in bacteria

open access: yesNature Communications
Purines and their derivatives control intracellular energy homeostasis and nucleotide synthesis, and act as signaling molecules. Here, we combine structural and sequence information to define a purine-binding motif that is present in sensor domains of ...

Substituted Purines as High-Affinity Histamine H3 Receptor Ligands

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2022
Continuing with our program to obtain new histamine H3 receptor (H3R) ligands, in this work we present the synthesis, H3R affinity and in silico studies of a series of eight new synthetically accessible purine derivatives.

Designing organometallic compounds for catalysis and therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Bioorganometallic chemistry is a rapidly developing area of research. In recent years organometallic compounds have provided a rich platform for the design of effective catalysts, e.g. for olefin metathesis and transfer hydrogenation.

Blood Purine Derivatives in Migraine

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1935
In an effort to uncover any possible abnormality in purine metabolism, the blood of 12 patients who suffer from migraine headaches was analyzed for adenine nucleotide nitrogen, purine nitrogen, and uric acid. Methods for the determination of these substances in blood have, in the past, been unreliable.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
