Hyperbaric Pressures Enhance Antioxidant Enzyme Activity and Suppress Grey Mould in Débora Tomato Fruits

open access: yesPlant Pathology, EarlyView.
Hyperbaric pressures reduced conidial germination, mycelial growth of Botrytis cinerea in vitro and increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes in tomatoes. ABSTRACT Hyperbaric pressures have been shown to be an efficient technique to inhibit physiological mechanisms of ripening, microbiological development and senescence in vegetables, prolonging ...

Effect of prolonged voluntary wheel running on oxidative stress and defence mechanisms in cortex and hippocampus of healthy female rats

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Physical exercise promotes brain health and cognitive function possibly through mechanisms that include strengthened resistance to oxidative stress. However, limited research has explored the cumulative effects of regular voluntary exercise on both oxidative stress and defence mechanisms in hippocampus and cortex, two regions essential for ...

Astroglial CB1 Reveal Sex‐Specific Synaptic Effects of Amphetamine

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 8, Page 1673-1691, August 2025.
Main Points Astroglial CB1 mediate long‐term depression in the NAc through purine release. Amphetamine occludes LTD in male mice by inducing the saturation of A1 receptors. Astroglial CB1 mediate behavioral amphetamine effects in males, but not in females.

Trained Immunity Induced by Oxidized Low‐Density Lipoprotein Is Dependent on Glutaminolysis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 13, 15 July 2025.
A brief exposure to oxLDL induces a trained immunity phenotype in monocytes, characterized by increased cytokine production upon secondary LPS challenge. This enhanced proinflammatory phenotype is supported by increased glutaminolysis and elevated glutamate processing through the TCA cycle, as well as increased oxidative phosphorylation.

HDAC6 and USP9X Control Glutamine Metabolism by Stabilizing GS to Promote Glioblastoma Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 25, July 3, 2025.
Glioblastoma (GBM) growth relies on glutamine synthetase (GS), which is stabilized by histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) and deubiquitinated by ubiquitin‐specific peptidase 9, X‐linked (USP9X). HDAC6 promotes GS deacetylation, while USP9X removes its K48‐linked polyubiquitination, enhancing GS stability.

Novel Data‐Driven Mechanistic Modeling of Untargeted Metabolome Data Reveals Feed Component Effects in CHO Cell Bioprocess Using Column Generation‐Based EFMs

open access: yesBiotechnology Journal, Volume 20, Issue 7, July 2025.
Graphical Abstract and Lay Summary This study presents a novel approach for applying mechanistic metabolic modeling to untargeted metabolomics data from the production process of a difficult‐to‐express enzyme by CHO cells, to identify key feed media component candidates responsible for improved productivity through feed modification. The study analyzed
