The Role of Purinergic Receptors in Cancer-Induced Bone Pain

open access: yesJournal of Osteoporosis, 2012
Cancer-induced bone pain severely compromises the quality of life of many patients suffering from bone metastasis, as current therapies leave some patients with inadequate pain relief.

The Role of Peripheral N‐Methyl‐D‐Asparate (NMDA) Receptors in Itch and Pain: A Narrative Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 7, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective NMDA receptors, predominantly located in the central nervous system and known for their roles in synaptic plasticity and central sensitisation of pain and itch, are also expressed in peripheral sensory neurons. Emerging evidence suggests that peripheral NMDA receptors contribute to pathological pain and potentially ...

The Aquaporin‐4 Expression and Localization in the Olfactory Epithelium Modulate the Odorant‐Evoked Responses and Olfactory‐Driven Behavior

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 8, Page 1642-1659, August 2025.
Main Points AQP4ex and OAP‐forming AQP4M23 are expressed in non‐neuronal cells of the olfactory epithelium. AQP4ex‐KO and OAP‐null mice show reduced cell density, including OSNs, and impaired odor responses and behavior, with AQP4ex emerging as key regulator.

Astroglial CB1 Reveal Sex‐Specific Synaptic Effects of Amphetamine

open access: yesGlia, Volume 73, Issue 8, Page 1673-1691, August 2025.
Main Points Astroglial CB1 mediate long‐term depression in the NAc through purine release. Amphetamine occludes LTD in male mice by inducing the saturation of A1 receptors. Astroglial CB1 mediate behavioral amphetamine effects in males, but not in females.

Revolutionizing Autoimmune Research: The Role of Caveolin‐1

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Caveolins (Cav) include Cav‐1, Cav‐2, and Cav‐3, with Cav‐1 being the most studied due to its prominent role as a major component of plasma membrane caveolae. Cav‐1 is involved in a wide range of cellular functions and plays a key role in regulating signaling pathways related to immune responses and inflammation.
