Synthesis of Indole Derivatives via Aryl Triazole Ring-Opening and Subsequent Cyclization
A metal-free two-step synthetic approach for obtaining indole derivatives from aryl triazole fragment-containing compounds has been developed. In the first step, the Dimroth equilibrium, followed by nitrogen extrusion, Wolff rearrangement, and amine ...

Infrared absorption spectra of a series of 2, 6-diamino and 2-amino-6hydroxy-8-choroalkyl purines [PDF]
8-haloalky purines were synthesized and infrared analysis (IR) carried out on them. The syntheses as well as the ill analyses are reported. The purines synthesized and studied include (i) 2,6-diamin-8-Chloromethyl purines, (ii) 2, 6-diamin-8-chlorethyl

Purine-Furan and Purine-Thiophene Conjugates [PDF]
Furyl and thienyl moieties were introduced into a purine structure to elevate its fluorescence properties, while a trityl group was used to increase the amorphous properties of the purine compounds. The title compounds were prepared by a sequence involving a Mitsunobu, a SNAr and a Suzuki–Miyaura reaction and their photophysical properties were studied.

Charge Transfer-oxy Radical Mechanism for Anti-cancer Agents [PDF]
The proposal is advanced that anti-cancer drugs generally function by charge transfer resulting in formation of toxic oxy radicals which destroy the neoplasm.

A TDDFT study of the excited states of DNA bases and their assemblies [PDF]
We present a detailed study of the optical absorption spectra of DNA bases and base pairs, carried out by means of time dependent density functional theory.

Parallel purine‐pyrimidine‐purine triplex: experimental evidence for existence [PDF]
Oligonucleotides 5′‐d(CT)5‐L‐d(AG)5‐L‐d(GA)5‐3′ and 5′‐d(GA)5‐L‐d(TC)5‐L‐d(GA)5‐3′ [L = pO(CH2CH2O)3p] were studied by thermal denaturation, chemical modification and binding of fluorescent dyes. Both oligonucleotides are shown to fold back on itself twice forming at pH 7 a sufficiently stable triplex ether with antiparallel‐oriented oligopurine ...

Substrate identification of putative NCS1 and NCS2 nucleobase transporters in Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that can salvage nucleobases from the environment to conserve nutrients that would otherwise be spent on de novo nucleotide biosynthesis.

Robust signatures in the current-voltage characteristics of DNA molecules oriented between two graphene nanoribbon electrodes [PDF]
In this work we numerically calculate the electric current through three kinds of DNA sequences (telomeric, \lambda-DNA, and p53-DNA) described by different heuristic models.
