Design, Synthesis, and Antibacterial Evaluation of Pyrazole Pyrimidine Hybrids: Integrative In Vitro and In Silico Studies

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 10, Issue 17, May 5, 2025.
This study synthesizes novel pyrimidine–pyrazole hybrids and evaluates their antimicrobial activity against bacterial pathogens by targeting penicillin‐binding protein 3 (PBP3). Several compounds show significant activity against E. faecium. Docking studies reveal strong binding with HMG‐CoA synthase, while in silico pharmacokinetic predictions ...

Estrogens produced within the central amygdala inhibit varicella zoster‐induced orofacial pain

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 37, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Varicella zoster virus (VZV) causes chicken pox, and reactivation of this virus later in life causes shingles. Previous work demonstrated that estrogens could reduce VZV‐induced orofacial pain and affect gene expression in the central amygdala.

Synthesis of Selectively 13C/2H/15N‐ Labeled Arginine to Probe Protein Conformation and Interaction by NMR Spectroscopy

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 24, April 25, 2025.
We offer a new labeling approach to introduce isolated 15N−13C−1H spin systems to the side chains of arginine residues. The labeling scheme delivers high‐resolution NMR spectra to study large protein complexes. The interaction between ubiquitin and the third Src homology 3 domain of yeast protein Sla1 (Sla1 SH3‐3) has been analyzed, highlighting the ...

Photocatalytic‐Mediated C−H Activation of Toluene Using Copper(I)‐Complexes with Macrocyclic Ligands

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 12, April 17, 2025.
The selective oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde was successfully carried out via a photocatalytically mediated reaction using copper complexes with macrocyclic ligands and molecular dioxygen. The process demonstrated a high turnover number for the conversion of toluene to benzaldehyde, with no detectable side products.
