Physicochemical Properties, Phenolic Acids Profile, and Vitamin Content of Quinoa‐Enriched Biscuits

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Altogether, the result of this study supports the existing literature on the nutritional and functional properties of quinoa. The higher vitamin content, better nutritional quality, and higher antioxidant properties that were determined in biscuits fortified with quinoa are consistent with the positioning of quinoa as a nutrient‐dense and health ...

Effect of Thermal Treatment on the Antiproliferative and Antioxidant Activities of Garlic

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
Heating garlic homogenate and baking or steaming garlic cloves caused no or moderate decrease in the total antioxidant capacity but decreased the alliinase activity, thiosulfinate content, and the antiproliferative activity (TAC) of garlic for ovarian cancer cells and fibroblasts.

X‐Linked Sideroblastic Anaemia Caused by Intronic ALAS2 Variant Resulting in Highly Variable Expressive Phenotype in Male Siblings, a Case Report

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT X‐linked sideroblastic anaemia (XLSA) is a rare hereditary disorder caused by mutations in the ALAS2 gene, essential for haem biosynthesis. We report two male siblings, the first of whom developed severe microcytic hypochromic anaemia requiring regular transfusions, iron chelation and an allogeneic bone marrow transplant, while his brother ...

Rapid and chemically diverse C transfer from trees to mycorrhizal fruit bodies in the forest

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 1343-1357, June 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) are common belowground tree symbionts, supplying trees with water and nutrients. In return, large amounts of C assimilated by trees can be allocated into EMF. However, the chemical forms in which the C is transferred from trees to fungi under
