Dual Stimuli‐Responsive Polylipoamide Nanoparticles as a Versatile Platform for Efficient pDNA and mRNA Delivery

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Stimuli‐responsive polylipoamide nanoparticles are promising in gene delivery owing to their ability to control cargo release within the intracellular environment. This work investigates a comprehensive library of dual pH‐ and reduction‐responsive polylipoamide nanoparticles to understand their structure–property relationships for the design of more ...

Structural insights into urocanate reductase using room‐temperature X‐ray crystallography

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 6, Page 603-614, June 2026.
The active‐site dynamics of the microbial enzyme urocanate reductase were revealed by room‐temperature X‐ray crystallography.Urocanate reductase (UrdA) is a bacterial enzyme that converts urocanic acid to imidazole propionate. Its catalytic residue Arg411 undergoes a large conformational change in the substrate‐bound versus product‐bound states.

Elucidating the Functional and Taxonomic Diversity of Soil Microbial Communities From Three Commercial Soybean Farms in South Africa

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Prior to inoculation of soybeans, South African soils contain no Bradyhizobia that nodulate and fix nitrogen in soybeans. Soybean cultivation with prolonged inoculation resulted in the establishment and dominance of Bradyrhizobia in three soybean farms in South Africa as revealed by a microbial community study using shotgun metagenomics. ABSTRACT Prior

Metabolic Flux Analysis Reveals Entner–Doudoroff Pathway Dominance in Heterotrophic Deep‐Sea Bacterial Isolates

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
Four deep‐sea bacterial strains, isolated from sediments at the water depths of 1–10 km, exhibited diverse metabolic flux patterns in central carbon metabolism as well as differing antioxidative responses. ABSTRACT Deep‐sea microorganisms adapt to extreme conditions by diverse metabolic strategies, yet their intracellular carbon fluxes remain largely ...

Dispensing of Antiemetics During Pregnancy in Aotearoa New Zealand, 2005–2020

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Volume 66, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Antiemetic use during pregnancy is rising in high‐income countries. Increasing use of antiemetics has also been documented in Aotearoa New Zealand (NZ); however, the specific antiemetics dispensed have not been reported. Aim To describe patterns of antiemetic dispensing during pregnancy in NZ, 2005–2020.
