Interactions between Artificial Gravity, Affected Physiological Systems, and Nutrition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Malnutrition, either by insufficient supply of some nutrients or by overfeeding has a profound effect on the health of an organism. Therefore, optimal nutrition is mandatory on Earth (1 g), in microgravity and also when applying artificial gravity to the

Genotype, Ethnicity, and Drug–Drug Interaction Modeling as Means of Verifying Transporter Biomarker PBPK Model: The Coproporphyrin‐I Story

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 941-953, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Coproporphyrin‐I (CP‐I) is a selective endogenous biomarker of organic anion‐transporting polypeptide (OATP)1B. Multiple CP‐I PBPK models with differing input parameters have been reported so far. This study proposed a harmonized CP‐I PBPK model and evaluated its ability to predict the effect of ethnicity, SLCO1B1 genotype c.521T>C, and sex on

Nutritional Status Assessment During the Phase IIA and Phase III Lunar/Mars Life Support Test Project [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Nutrition is a critical concern for extended-duration space missions (Smith and Lane, 1999). Loss of body weight is a primary consequence of altered nutrition, and is frequently observed during space flight (Smith and Lane; 1999).

A Non-Targeted LC-MS Profiling Reveals Elevated Levels of Carnitine Precursors and Trimethylated Compounds in the Cord Plasma of Pre-Eclamptic Infants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Preeclampsia (PE) is a complex pregnancy disorder. It is not extensively known how the metabolic alterations of PE women contribute to the metabolism of newborn.

Pyridoxal 5′-phosphate and related metabolites in hypophosphatasia: Effects of enzyme replacement therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective To investigate the utility of serum pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP), pyridoxal (PL), and 4-pyridoxic acid (PA) as a diagnostic marker of hypophosphatasia (HPP) and an indicator of the effect of, and patient compliance with, enzyme replacement ...

Dietary supplementation with milk‐derived Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis relieves colitis‐linked reproductive disorders via gut‐testis axis

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 2, Issue 1, March 2025.
The illustration of health benefits of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis NJ241 isolated from naturally fermented bovine milk. Integrative approaches unraveled that daily supplementation with Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis NJ241 could markedly suppress colitis‐linked reproductive disorders through the gut‐testis axis.

Metabolomic Insights into Primary and Secondary Metabolites Variation in Common and Glutinous Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesAgronomy
: Interest in glutinous rice consumption has been expanding in East Asia. However, the extent of metabolite variation between common and glutinous rice has not been fully explored to identify metabolic targets for rice quality improvement.

Effect of pyridoxal administration on the contents of pyridoxal phosphate and .GAMMA.-aminobutyric acid in mouse brain.

open access: yesJournal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology, 1978
Many mice treated with a high single dose of PL died in convulsions. The convulsions were very similar to those induced with some anti B6 in several ways: (1) a long latent period occurs betfore convulsions; (2) PLP levels in brain decrease; (3) GABA levels in brain, especially in synaptosomal fraction, decrease.

SYISL Knockout Promotes Embryonic Muscle Development of Offspring by Modulating Maternal Gut Microbiota and Fetal Myogenic Cell Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, February 10, 2025.
SYISL knockout significantly promotes embryonic muscle development and increases muscle fiber numbers of offspring by modulating maternal gut microbiota composition and butyrate‐HDAC‐H3K9ac/H3K27ac pathway. Furthermore, scRNA‐seq analysis shows that SYISL knockout alone significantly increases the number and proportion of myogenic cells and their ...

Denser Yet, And Yet Less Dense [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This article concerns words of high and low density, ie a large sum with respect to the number of letters. A recent effort by Susan Thorpe (Lighter and Heavier, Word Ways, August 2003), also details previous work.
