Effectiveness of Pyridoxal‐5′‐Phosphate in PNPO Deficiency: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 5, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Pyridox(am)ine 5′‐phosphate oxidase (PNPO) deficiency is an ultrarare inherited neurometabolic disease, characterized by primarily neonatal‐onset B6‐responsive epileptic encephalopathies. Treatment often requires sustainable access to high‐quality pyridoxal‐5′‐phosphate (PLP, i.e., active vitamin B6), although some patients (also) respond to ...

Characterising Alzheimer's disease through integrative NMR- and LC-MS-based metabolomics

open access: yesMetabolism Open, 2021
Background: Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is a complex and multifactorial disease and novel approaches are needed to illuminate the underlying pathology. Metabolites comprise the end-product of genes, transcripts, and protein regulations and might reflect ...

Multi‐omics analysis revealed biomarkers for coronary atherosclerosis: Occurrence and development

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
This finding could lead to clinical diagnosis of CA severity and provide new treatment strategies. A novel panel composed of five metabolites can be used to accurately diagnose the development of CA. Abstract Background Coronary atherosclerosis (CA) is a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases with the high morbidity and mortality; however, the ...

Metabolic alterations in human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells treated with PDGF‐BB

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 8, Issue 7, Page 1268-1276, July 2025.
Metabolic abnormalities are considered to play a key regulatory role in vascular remodeling of pulmonary arterial hypertension. We analyzed the metabolome in the culture supernatants of human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMC) during the malignant proliferation phenotype transition via a targeted metabolomics method. Significant and extensive

Virtual twin approach using physiologically based pharmacokinetic modelling in hospitalized patients treated with apixaban or rivaroxaban

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 91, Issue 7, Page 2057-2069, July 2025.
Abstract Aims In a large cohort of hospitalized patients, previously validated physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK)‐based models for apixaban and rivaroxaban are being assessed for their performance in predicting individual pharmacokinetics, aiming to identify patients at high risk of under‐ or overdosing based on demographic, physiological and

Amaranthus spinosus Linn. Extract as an Innovative Strategy to Regulate Biomarkers for Ovarian Hyperthecosis via Circular RNA (hsa‐circ‐0001577): Evidence From Biochemical, Metabolomics, Histological, and Phytochemical Profiling

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
A significant improvement in hormonal and oxidative stress biomarkers was observed in rats treated with Amaranthus spinosus, especially at high doses, after induction of ovarian hyperthecosis. Amaranthus spinosus could be a management approach for ovarian hyperthecosis via regulating circRNA (hsa‐circ‐0001577), disturbed hormonal balance, and ...

Catalytic Activities of Pyridoxal Analogues. I. The Catalytic Effects of Pyridoxal, Pyridoxal Methochloride, and Pyridoxal N-Oxide on the Racemization of l-Glutamic Acid [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1975
Abstract An improved method for the syntheses of pyridoxal methochloride (1) and pyridoxal N-oxide (5) was investigated. Further, the catalytic activities of pyridoxal, 1, and 5 on the racemization of l-glutamic acid in the presence of cupric ions were studied.

Maternal preconception circulating blood biomarker mixtures, child behavioural symptom scores and the potential mediating role of neonatal brain microstructure: the S-PRESTO cohort

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry, 2023
Human brain development starts in the embryonic period. Maternal preconception nutrition and nutrient availability to the embryo may influence brain development at this critical period following conception and early cellular differentiation, thereby ...

Reaction of pyridoxal-5′-phosphate with γ-carboxyglutamic acid [PDF]

open access: yesExperientia, 1980
Pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP) reacts with γ-carboxyglutamic acid (Gla) to form a stable complex absorbing at 325 nm. It is suggested that a condensation occurs in which the formyl group of PLP reacts with the α-amino group and the γ carbon atom of Gla to give a pyrrolidine derivative.
