Quantitizing, commonly understood to refer to the numerical translation, transformation, or conversion of qualitative data, has become a staple of mixed methods research. Typically glossed are the foundational assumptions, judgments, and compromises involved in converting disparate data sets into each other and whether such conversions advance inquiry.

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.

Cutaneous Phosphorylated Alpha‐Synuclein in Lewy Body Dementia
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the test performance of cutaneous phosphorylated alpha‐synuclein (P‐SYN) in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), individuals with reduced Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and healthy controls. Methods This is the first subgroup analysis of the Synuclein‐One study, a prospective, blinded study evaluating P‐SYN detection ...

Relative and Absolute Quantitation in Mass Spectrometry-Based Proteomics.
Mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomics is a powerful tool for gaining insights into function and dynamics of biological systems. However, peptides with different sequences have different ionization efficiencies, and their intensities in a mass ...

Tumor‐tropic human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) were used as delivery vehicles for magnetotheranostic gold–iron oxide nanoflowers. Magnetic particle imaging of the iron component demonstrated widespread intratumoral distribution and sustained retention in contrast to injection of naked nanoflowers.

This study develops a novel atomic engineering strategy to fine‐tune the spin state of α‐Fe2O3 catalysts toward a medium‐spin state, thereby modulating peroxymonosulfate activation and selectively yielding surface‐bound radicals. Compared with free radicals, surface‐bound radicals exhibit moderated oxidation potential, extended lifespan, surface ...

Paraoxonase 1 (PON1) requires calcium for activity and is inactivated in the presence of EDTA. Because of this, studies to date have used serum or heparinized plasma for both activity and mass assays of PON1.
