Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

HBV DNA Quantitation Using Real-time PCR

open access: yesAnnals of Laboratory Medicine, 2006
Accurate measurement of the concentration of hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in clinical samples is important for the appropriate treatment of patients and evaluation of their therapeutic responses. In addition, the concentration of HBV DNA in the serum of patients with chronic HBV infection has a very broad range.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Differential quantification of CYP2D6 gene copy number by four different quantitative real-time PCR assays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Copy number variations (CNVs) in the CYP2D6 gene contribute to interindividual variation in drug metabolism. As the most common duplicated allele in Asian populations is the nonfunctional CYP2D6*36 allele, the goal of this study was to identify CNV ...

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Quantitative real-time PCR for the clinical detection of Helicobacter pylori

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2007
Accurate diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection is very important in both clinical practice and research. We evaluated the sensitivity of real-time PCR (RT-PCR) for the detection and quantification of Helicobacter pylori using DNA from 91 human ...

Evaluation and validation of reference genes in Cymbidium faberi for real-time quantitative PCR

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2022
For all organs at all Cymbidium faberi stages, ACT, UBQ3 and GAPDH can be selected as reference genes. For organs of the vegetative stage, UBQ2 and UBQ3 can be chosen for analysis of normalized gene expression. For the bud stage, ACT and UBQ3 can be used

Competitive RT-PCR Strategy for Quantitative Evaluation of the Expression of Tilapia () Growth Hormone Receptor Type I [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Quantization of gene expression requires that an accurate measurement of a specific transcript is made. In this paper, a quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) by competition for tilapia growth hormone receptor type I is ...

Serum CCAT2 as a biomarker for adjuvant diagnosis and prognostic prediction of cervical cancer

open access: yesJournal of Ovarian Research, 2022
Growing evidence indicates that lncRNA colon cancer-associated transcript 2 (CCAT2) is associated with cancers. However, the clinical value of CCAT2 in cervical cancer (CC) remains unclear.
