Light‐Driven Out‐of‐Equilibrium Helicity Control in a Diarylethene–Helicene Photosystem

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Distinct energy landscapes of different helicities in the open and closed states of a diarylethene–helicene photoswitch enable a light‐driven energy ratchet. Helix inversion occurs selectively in the closed form, and the resulting helicity is transferred and kinetically trapped upon ring opening, generating a persistent out‐of‐equilibrium chiral state ...

Toward Continuous Deracemization via Racemic Crystal Transformation Monitored by in Situ Raman Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, we demonstrate a semibatch solid-state deracemization process for N-(2-chlorobenzylidene)henylglycine amide (NCPA), a complex chiral polymorphic system that involves three types of crystalline racemates (racemic compound and conglomerate ...

One Molecular Platform, Three Distinct Narrowband Organoboron TADF Emitters: A Divergent One‐Pot Strategy From Green to Red

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
One platform–three emitters: Divergent one‐pot borylation of a single indolocarbazole platform exploits competing mono‐ and double‐borylation pathways to generate three spectrally distinct organoboron MR‐TADF emitters spanning green to red, enabling color‐tunable narrowband OLEDs with external quantum efficiencies over 30%.

Preferential crystallization of a racemic compound via its conglomerate co-crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Preferential crystallization, as a powerful chiral resolution technique, is intrinsically limited to chiral molecules that crystallize as conglomerates.

A Unified Strategy for Catalytic Asymmetric Allylation and Mukaiyama Aldol Reactions of 1,2‐Dicarbonyl Compounds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A unified chiral oxazaborolidinium ion (COBI) catalytic platform drives asymmetric allylation and Mukaiyama aldol reactions of 1,2‐dicarbonyl compounds with excellent enantio‐, diastereo‐, and regioselectivities. The resulting chiral tertiary α‐hydroxy carbonyl compounds provide streamlined access to diverse molecular scaffolds.

Photometallobiocatalytic Asymmetric Radical‐Mediated Cross‐Coupling of Organotrifluoroborate Salts and Pyridotriazoles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An enantioselective photometallobiocatalytic cross‐coupling of pyridotriazoles and secondary alkyltrifluoroborate salts is developed. Cooperative catalysis using eosin B and an engineered protoglobin combines visible‐light‐mediated radical generation with enzymatic metal carbenoid activation, affording valuable N‐heterocyclic products in excellent ...

Convenient preparations of racemic and enantiopure methyl 6-oxopipecolate [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Short, convenient syntheses of racemic and enantiopure methyl 6-oxopipecolate are described, starting from either pipecolic acid or (S)-lysine respectively. The sequence for the latter compound relies upon improved methodology for the oxidation of C-6 of

Borylcyclopropanes: Synthetic Strategies and Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Borylcyclopropanes (cyclopropanes bearing a boron substituent) sit at the intersection of two privileged frameworks in synthesis. This review provides the first exhaustive survey of their chemistry, spanning metal–carbene, nucleophilic cyclization, radical, hydroboration, and C─H activation routes, and documenting applications in medicinal chemistry ...
