IUdR, injected intraperitoneally, did not cause cell death for tumor cells proliferating as small colonies in subcutaneous tissues. Only a small amount of TdR of total DNA was replaced. A small fraction of the cells seemed to be in active cell proliferation, and they efficiently utilized the injected IUdR.

Abstract In this study, gamma irradiation sensitivities of bacteria and viruses in porcine skin were evaluated to establish the optimum sterilization condition for the dressing material and a xenoskin graft. Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis were used as model pathogens and inoculated at 106–107 log CFU/g.

Animal tumors having a wide range of growth rates and histologies have been shown to contain hypoxic cells (1), which largely determine the radiation dose necessary for tumor control.
