We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Mesoscopic lattice Boltzmann model for radiative heat transfer in graded-index media
Convection, conduction, and thermal radiation are the three mechanisms of heat transfer in nature. The lattice Boltzmann model (LBM) has already achieved great success in dealing with convection and conduction problems.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Radiative hydrodynamic equations with nonequilibrium radiative transfer
This paper presents a kinetic model for the coupled evolution of radiation, electrons, and ions in a radiation plasma system. The model is solved using two methods. The gas-kinetic scheme (GKS) for electron and ion hydrodynamics and the unified gas-kinetic scheme (UGKS) for non-equilibrium radiative transfer.

This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Self-Averaging Scaling Limits of Two-Frequency Wigner Distribution for Random Paraxial Waves [PDF]
Two-frequency Wigner distribution is introduced to capture the asymptotic behavior of the space-frequency correlation of paraxial waves in the radiative transfer limits. The scaling limits give rises to deterministic transport-like equations.

Quantum algorithm for the radiative-transfer equation
The radiation transfer equation is widely used for simulations, for example, heat transfer in engineering, diffuse optical tomography in healthcare, and radiation hydrodynamics in astrophysics. By combining the lattice Boltzmann method, we propose a quantum algorithm for radiative transfer.

Spectral element method for vector radiative transfer equation [PDF]
A spectral element method (SEM) is developed to solve polarized radiative transfer in multidimensional participating medium. The angular discretization is based on the discrete-ordinates approach, and the spatial discretization is conducted by spectral element approach. Chebyshev polynomial is used to build basis function on each element.
