The effect of radiolabeled nanostructured lipid carrier systems containing imatinib mesylate on NIH-3T3 and CRL-1739 cells

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2020
The aim of current study is to develop new nanostructured lipid carrier systems (NLCSs) containing imatinib mesylate (IMT) and evaluate their targeting efficiency on NIH-3T3 as fibroblast cells and CRL-1739 as gastric adenocarcinoma cells with ...

Development of a robotic prototype system for the preparation and partition of radioactive products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The ionizing radiation is used in the nuclear medicine field during the execution of diagnosis exams. The continuous exposure of humans to the radiation may cause organs and tissues damage, being its severity dependent of the quantity of the radiation ...

A pathway toward clinical translation of hyperpolarized [1,4‐13C2,2,3‐d2]fumarate as an imaging biomarker for early cellular necrosis in vivo

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 94, Issue 3, Page 1202-1217, September 2025.
Abstract Purpose The detection of hyperpolarized carbon‐13 (HP 13C)‐fumarate conversion to 13C‐malate using 13C‐MRSI is a biomarker for early detection of cellular necrosis. Here, we describe the translation of HP 13C‐fumarate as a novel human imaging agent, including the evaluation of biocompatibility and scaling up of the hyperpolarization methods ...

Radiopharmacy services in South African academic hospitals: implications for planning radiopharmacy services in Africa

open access: yesFrontiers in Nuclear Medicine
BackgroundNuclear medicine (NM) is being embraced by undeveloped countries as a specialty. Due to the high costs involved in establishing new NM and radiopharmacy centres, proper planning is essential.

Imidazolium‐Based Lipid Analogs as Lipofection Reagents

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 358, Issue 8, August 2025.
Imidazolium‐based lipid analogs were synthesized and assessed for liposome‐mediated gene transfer. Cytotoxicity varied with alkyl chain saturation; di‐unsaturated analogs achieved effective transfection despite higher toxicity. These insights into the effects of lipid structure aid in designing efficient and safer nonviral delivery systems.

Development and characterisation of improved unifocal primary mouse lung cancer models with metastatic potential

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 266, Issue 4-5, Page 405-420, August 2025.
Abstract Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer‐related death globally. To better understand the biology of lung cancer, mouse models have been developed using either tail vein‐injected tumour cell lines or genetically modified mice. The current gold‐standard models typically present with multiple lung foci.

The evolving role of positron emission tomography in precision prostate cancer biopsy

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 55, Issue 8, August 2025.
Prostate biopsy plays a pivotal role in the detection and characterization of prostate cancer. PSMA PET‐targeted biopsy represents a significant advancement in prostate cancer diagnostics, offering higher sensitivity, specificity and accuracy in detecting clinically significant lesions compared to traditional methods. PSMA PET, when combined with mpMRI,
