Promoter methylation and expression of Raf kinase inhibitory protein in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yesOncol Lett, 2017
Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) regulates multiple cellular processes, and its downregulation is associated with distinct human cancers. In the present study, the status of RKIP promoter methylation, as well as its expression and clinical significance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), were examined.

Raf Kinase Inhibitory Protein Regulates Aurora B Kinase and the Spindle Checkpoint [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Cell, 2006
Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP or PEBP) is an inhibitor of the Raf/MEK/MAP kinase signaling cascade and a suppressor of cancer metastasis. We now show that RKIP associates with centrosomes and kinetochores and regulates the spindle checkpoint in mammalian cells.

Activation of Raf-1 Signaling by Protein Kinase C through a Mechanism Involving Raf Kinase Inhibitory Protein [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2003
Protein kinase C (PKC) regulates activation of the Raf-1 signaling cascade by growth factors, but the mechanism by which this occurs has not been elucidated. Here we report that one mechanism involves dissociation of Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) from Raf-1.

Modulation of the MAP kinase signaling cascade by Raf kinase inhibitory protein [PDF]

open access: yesCell Research, 2005
Proteins like Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) that serve as modulators of signaling pathways, either by promoting or inhibiting the formation of productive signaling complexes through protein-protein interactions, have been demonstrated to play an increasingly important role in a number of cell types and organisms.

Loss of Raf Kinase Inhibitory Protein Induces Radioresistance in Prostate Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2008
External beam radiotherapy (RT) is often used in an attempt to cure localized prostate cancer (PCa), but it is only palliative against disseminated disease. Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) is a metastasis suppressor whose expression is reduced in approximately 50% of localized PCa tissues and is absent in metastases.

Characterization of the Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) binding pocket: NMR-based screening identifies small-molecule ligands. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundRaf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP), also known as phoshaptidylethanolamine binding protein (PEBP), has been shown to inhibit Raf and thereby negatively regulate growth factor signaling by the Raf/MAP kinase pathway.

Effects of Sodium Ferulate on Cardiac Hypertrophy Are via the CaSR-Mediated Signaling Pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2021
As a common complication of many cardiovascular diseases, cardiac hypertrophy is characterized by increased cardiac cell volume, reorganization of the cytoskeleton, and the reactivation of fetal genes such as cardiac natriuretic peptide and β-myosin ...

PEBP1, a RAF kinase inhibitory protein, negatively regulates starvation-induced autophagy by direct interaction with LC3. [PDF]

open access: yesAutophagy, 2016
Autophagy plays a critical role in maintaining cell homeostasis in response to various stressors through protein conjugation and activation of lysosome-dependent degradation. MAP1LC3B/LC3B (microtubule- associated protein 1 light chain 3 β) is conjugated with phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) in the membranes and regulates initiation of autophagy through ...

Raf kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) as a metastasis suppressor: regulation of signaling networks in cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesCrit Rev Oncog, 2014
Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases worldwide, accounting for about 8 million deaths a year. For solid tumors, cancer patients die as a result of the metastatic spread of the tumor to the rest of the body. Therefore, there is a clinical need for understanding the molecular and cellular basis of metastasis, identifying patients whose tumors are more

Integration of a Phosphatase Cascade with the MAP Kinase Pathway provides for a Novel Signal Processing Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We mathematically modeled the receptor-activated MAP kinase signaling by incorporating the regulation through cellular phosphatases. Activation induced the alignment of a phosphatase cascade in parallel with the MAP kinase pathway.
