Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Computer system for selecting silicon diodes for random number generators

open access: yesТехнологія та конструювання в електронній апаратурі, 2006
A methodology is proposed for analyzing and selecting primary sources of impulsive noise for use in random number sequence generators. A description is given of a computer system designed to analyze the characteristics of noise pulse streams in diodes ...

Pseudo-Random Number Generators for Stochastic Computing (SC): Design and Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Nanotechnology
In most nanoscale stochastic computing designs, the Stochastic Number Generator (SNG) circuit is complex and occupies a significant area because each copy of a stochastic variable requires its own dedicated (and independent) stochastic number generator ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Comparing pseudo- and quantum-random number generators with Monte Carlo simulations

open access: yesAPL Quantum
We study how the Monte Carlo simulations of the critical dynamics of two-dimensional Ising lattices are affected by the quality (as compared to true randomness) of the pseudo-randomness used in them by computing an observable known to be sensitive to it:

Random walk tests for pseudo-random number generators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
It is well known that there are no perfectly good generators of random number sequences, implying the need of testing the randomness of the sequences produced by such generators.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
