Microblasting Wound Dressings Mechanically Disrupt Polymicrobial Biofilms to Enhance Healing in Treatment‐Resistant Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Treatment‐resistant wounds caused by polymicrobial biofilms are refractory to conventional therapies due to the dense extracellular matrices. We developed μBLAST, a microblasting wound dressing that combines MnO2‐doped biosilica and a H2O2‐releasing mesh to generate localized oxygen microbubbles that mechanically disrupt biofilms.

Conformational Snapshots of CydDC in a Native Lipid Bilayer Coupling Heme Transport to Antibiotic Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phylogenetic and biochemical analyses of the heme transporter CydDC reveal its functional conservation throughout bacterial evolution and demonstrate its unique asymmetric allosteric mechanism. Furthermore, impairment of CydDC function directly affects bacterial antibiotic resistance and likely compromises antibiotic efficacy through drug efflux.

Targeting Lipopolysaccharide Transport Induces Membrane Lipid Remodeling and Sensitizes Acinetobacter baumannii to Colistin Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies C4 as a lead inhibitor of the Lpt system. Notably, C4 potentiates colistin activity by disrupting LPS transport and remodeling phospholipid homeostasis, revealing a functional interplay between the Lpt and Mla systems. These findings establish a mechanistic link between Lpt inhibition and membrane lipid remodeling, positioning Lpt–

A rapid bacterial labeling method for phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing

open access: yesDiagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease
Bacterial infections pose significant diagnostic and treatment challenges due to the increasing prevalence of multidrug-resistant pathogens. Current Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST) workflows, including automated systems, require bacterial isolation which is a time-consuming process.

Light‐Activated Ruthenium Nanoclusters Reprogram the Metabolic‐Quorum Sensing Axis for Precision Periodontitis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under 660 nm visible light, Ru NCs efficiently photocatalyze nitrate‐to‐ammonium conversion and modulate oral nitrogen metabolism. They precisely perturb Veillonella parvula, block its key support to Porphyromonas gingivalis, and exert an “inhibiting without killing” antivirulence effect.

Mesoporous Catalytic‐Adsorptive Nanoregulator Orchestrates Biofilm eDNA/LPS Disassembly and TLR9/TLR4 Immune Reprogramming to Resolve Diabetic Foot Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic diabetic wounds are hindered by a “dual trap” of biofilm resistance and hyperinflammation. A mesoporous catalytic‐adsorptive nano‐regulator is developed to dismantle this barrier through simultaneous eDNA degradation and LPS sequestration. By silencing TLR4/9‐mediated signaling, the platform clears resilient pathogens and reprograms the immune ...

Flow cytometry enables rapid evaluation of novel, new and niche antimicrobial agents

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The global rise of multidrug-resistant bacteria necessitates the development of new antimicrobials and faster diagnostic tools. Conventional antimicrobial susceptibility testing is slow, relying on culture-based methods that delay effective treatment ...

Oxygen Vacancy‐Mediated Bi─O Unsaturation Coordination in BiOCl for Efficient Photocatalytic Water Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The incorporation of oxygen vacancies (OVs) presents a viable strategy for fine‐tuning the photocatalytic prowess of BiOCl. A reliable hydrogen annealing reduction technique is employed to precisely design OVs, thereby optimizing the light absorption capacity, as well as the efficiency of carrier migration and separation in BiOCl.
