Impact of Streptomyces and Bacillus on Ammonia, Nitrite, Vibrio Counts and Growth of Penaeus vannamei in Recirculating Aquaculture System

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
This study evaluates the effects of supplementing whiteleg shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) feed with Streptomyces strains (TM1, TM2, TM7, TM21, TM22), Bacillus strains (AQ1, BIO2, BAL3), and their combinations at different densities (106, 107, and 108 CFU/g ...

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Reflection asymmetric relativistic mean field approach and its application to the octupole deformed nucleus $^{226}$Ra

open access: yes, 2007
A Reflection ASymmetric Relativistic Mean Field (RAS-RMF) approach is developed by expanding the equations of motion for both the nucleons and the mesons on the eigenfunctions of the two-center harmonic-oscillator potential.

Intercompartmental communication in senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Senescent cells experience structural changes in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, and cytoskeleton. These alterations disrupt crosstalk among cellular compartments, impairing vesicular trafficking, contact sites, and molecular flow.

The use of biofilters with different types of fillers in recirculation aquatic system (RAS)

open access: yesFisheries & Aquatic Life
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using highly porous materials as fillers for biofilters in RAS, such as those with a much higher specific surface area than classical polymer floating bioload, and to determine the optimal ...
