Merkel Cell Carcinoma With Divergent Differentiation—Or Something Else? A Triphasic Cutaneous Carcinoma With Lineage Plasticity

open access: yesJournal of Cutaneous Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive cutaneous neuroendocrine carcinoma that typically arises in sun‐exposed skin of older or immunosuppressed patients. Combined or collision tumors involving MCC and other cutaneous malignancies are uncommon, and tumors exhibiting more than two distinct malignant phenotypes are exceptionally rare.

Effects of saponins Rb1 and Re in American ginseng combined intervention on immune system of aging model

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences
Aging is a major risk factor for the development of many pathological processes, such as reduced immunity, cancer, cardiovascular diseases or neurodegenerative diseases, while age-related chronic diseases are the most common causes of death.

Defective TGF-β proliferative control in Rb1ΔL/ΔL and Rb1ΔL/+ mice.

open access: yes, 2013
A) Rb1+/+, Rb1ΔL/+, and Rb1ΔL/ΔL mammary epithelial cells were treated with TGF-β1 and pulse labeled with BrdU 24 hrs later. The percentage of cells incorporating BrdU was measured by immunofluorescence microscopy.

Cytology‐First Diagnostic Workflow for Melanoma of Unknown Primary With Molecular Profiling

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Cytology‑first diagnostic workflow for melanoma of unknown primary. Fine‑needle aspiration of an enlarged lymph node enables rapid cytologic evaluation and immunocytochemical confirmation of melanocytic lineage (SOX10). This early cytologic diagnosis facilitates timely surgical excision and comprehensive genomic profiling, supporting integrated ...

Characterisation of retinoblastomas without RB1 mutations: genomic, gene expression, and clinical studies

open access: yes, 2013
SummaryBackgroundRetinoblastoma is the childhood retinal cancer that defined tumour-suppressor genes. Previous work shows that mutation of both alleles of the RB1 retinoblastoma suppressor gene initiates disease.

When Small Cells Matter: Diagnosing Bladder Small Cell Carcinoma on Urine Cytology

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
Small cell carcinoma of the bladder is rare, aggressive and diagnostically challenging on urine cytology. We report a case detected in urine and confirmed by cell block immunohistochemistry, highlighting the importance of careful assessment and limitations of the Paris System.

The Rb1 tumour suppressor gene modifies telomeric chromatin architecture by regulating TERRA expression.

open access: yes, 2017
The tumour suppressor gene (Rb1) is necessary for the maintenance of telomere integrity in osteoblastic cells. We now show that the compaction of telomeric chromatin and the appropriate histone modifications of telomeric DNA are both dependent upon Rb1 ...

Cutaneous Leiomyosarcoma of the Skin: An Updated Review of Epidemiology, Pathogenesis, and Management

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
This review provides an update on the epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical/histologic features of cutaneous leiomyosarcoma. Prognostic factors (e.g., depth of tumor involvement, grade, etc.) that can facilitate risk stratification are also discussed, as are treatment approaches for this rare malignancy.

Complex Regulation of RETINOBLASTOMA‐RELATED's Interactions With E2Fs via Phosphorylation

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arabidopsis RETINOBLASTOMA‐RELATED (RBR) regulates cell proliferation by interacting with E2F transcription factors and DIMERISATION PARTNER, RB‐LIKE, E2F AND MULTI‐VULVAL CLASS B COMPLEX (DREAM) components. Although CDK‐CYCD phosphorylation is believed to affect RBR's E2F‐binding capacity, the precise phosphorylation events inhibiting RBR's ...
