Toward a theory of Bayesian experimentation in early‐stage ventures

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary The entrepreneurship literature has established the benefits of experimentation but has paid comparatively little attention to its costs. We develop a Bayesian model to illustrate the entrepreneurial choice between direct and experimental entry.

An updated variable RBE model for proton therapy [PDF]

open access: yes
Objective. While a constant relative biological effectiveness (RBE) of 1.1 forms the basis for clinical proton therapy, variable RBE models are increasingly being used in plan evaluation.

Integrating microdosimetric in vitro RBE models for particle therapy into TOPAS MC using the MicrOdosimetry-based modeling for RBE Assessment (MONAS) tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We present MONAS (MicrOdosimetry-based modelliNg for relative biological effectiveness (RBE) ASsessment) toolkit. MONAS is a TOPAS Monte Carlo extension, that combines simulations of microdosimetric distributions with radiobiological microdosimetry-based

Resveratrol Butyrate Esters Inhibit Obesity Caused by Perinatal Exposure to Bisphenol A in Female Offspring Rats

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Resveratrol butyrate esters (RBE) are derivatives of resveratrol (RSV) and butyric acid and exhibit biological activity similar to that of RSV but with higher bioavailability.

Combined MEK1/2 and Autophagy Inhibition Suppresses Tumor Growth via STING‐Mediated Type I Interferon Response in iCCA

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Through bioinformatic analyses, iCCA cell models, and in vivo xenograft experiments, we show that autophagy inhibition sensitizes iCCA to MEK1/2 blockade by enhancing STING‐dependent type I interferon signaling. These findings support combined MEK1/2 and autophagy inhibition as a promising therapeutic strategy for iCCA. ABSTRACT The RAF–MEK–ERK pathway

Mixed- and multi-relative biological effectiveness model simultaneous optimization in carbon ion radiotherapy: A proof-of-concept

open access: yesPhysics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology
Background and purpose: In carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT), different relative biological effectiveness (RBE) models have been used for calculating RBE-weighted dose (DRBE).

Transporter‐Associated Therapeutic Efficacy of an SMVT‐Targeted Boron Carrier in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
The transporter‐associated BNCT strategy using BBCIP with or without BPA according to tumor transporter characteristics. BPA showed greater efficacy in LAT1‐dominant F98 glioma, whereas BBCIP was more effective in SMVT‐high CRL1666 tumors, suggesting the potential utility of transporter‐based boron carrier selection in BNCT.

RBE physically associates with the TPL protein. [PDF]

open access: yes
(A) Diagram of native RBE protein and RBE with point mutations in the EAR motif (mRBE). Native and altered amino acid sequences are shown. (B) Yeast two-hybrid assays between RBE or mRBE with TOPLESS (TPL).—symbol indicates only the AD domain.

Clinical radiobiology of proton therapy: modeling of RBE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: To better estimate relative biological effectiveness (RBE) in therapeutic proton beams by using a modeled approach, in order to improve their clinical safety and effectiveness.

Oxidative stability of blesbok, springbok and fallow deer droëwors with added rooibos extract

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2015
The addition of rooibos extract (RBE) (0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 1.0% RBE) to improve the oxidative stability of blesbok, springbok and fallow deer droëwors (dried sausage) was studied. RBE treatments had no effects (p>0.05) on the lipid and protein oxidation of
