Cytokine Pathways Driving Diverse Tissue Pathologies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a complex systemic disorder characterized primarily by articular inflammation and destruction with associated functional loss and reduced quality of life. RA is also associated with extra‐articular disease, such as that of the lung, with potentially devastating clinical consequences. The critical importance of comorbidities,

Characterization of a mutant type-1 angiotensin II receptor

open access: yesKidney International, 1994
We have used PCR to amplify the rat AT1 receptor from liver mRNA. The receptor DNA was subcloned into pcDNAI and a number of individual clones were transiently expressed in COS-7 cells. These individual receptors were characterized by binding of [125I] Sar1, Ile8-angiotensin II.

Drug‐Induced Raynaud's Phenomenon and Underlying Mechanism: A Disproportionality Analysis From the World Health Organization Pharmacovigilance Database

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objectives The aim of this study is to generate hypotheses about unknown drugs associated with the onset or worsening of Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and to explore their potential pathophysiologic mechanisms through a mixed disproportionality/clustering analysis from the World Health Organization (WHO) pharmacovigilance database.

Molecular stratification of antiphospholipid syndrome through integrative analysis of the whole‐blood RNA transcriptome

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a thrombo‐inflammatory disorder characterized by clinical and mechanistic heterogeneity that complicates early diagnosis and hinders targeted treatment. We aimed to identify distinct molecular endotypes among antiphospholipid antibody (aPL)‐positive patients using whole‐blood transcriptomics.

Beyond right or wrong: How partial credit scoring on multiple‐choice questions improves student performance and assessment perceptions

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims In this study, we examined the effects of assigning partial credit to selected answer choices on student performance and perceptions in a pharmacology course using Type A multiple‐choice questions (MCQs). Methods Partial credit scoring was incorporated into quizzes and exams in a 10‐week pharmacology course for postbaccalaureate premedical ...

Human vs. artificial intelligence: Physicians outperform ChatGPT in real‐world pharmacotherapy counselling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims To assess the utility of the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT (openly available version 3.5) in responding to real‐world pharmacotherapeutic queries from healthcare professionals. Methods Three independent and blinded evaluators with different levels of medical expertise and professional experience (beginner, advanced, and expert ...

Molecular Cloning of Guinea Pig Angiotensin Type 1 Receptor

open access: yesNeurosignals, 2000
The primary structure of cDNA encoding of the angiotensin type 1 receptor (AT(1)R) was cloned from guinea pig liver. Guinea pig AT(1)R (GP-AT(1)R) cDNA clone contains a 1,077-bp open reading frame which encodes a protein consisting of 359 amino acid residues. GP-AT(1)R amino acid sequence showed a 92% level of identity among mammalian species.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

The angiotensin II receptors type 1 and 2 modulate astrocytes and their crosstalk with microglia and neurons in an in vitro model of ischemic stroke

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience
Background Astrocytes are the most abundant cell type of the central nervous system and are fundamentally involved in homeostasis, neuroprotection, and synaptic plasticity.
