Molecular and functional identification of beta-adrenergic receptors in distal convoluted tubule cells

open access: yes, 1997
Renal nerve stimulation or circulating catecholamines activate the beta-adrenergic receptors that mediate direct effects on tubular transport. Three subtypes of beta-adrenergic receptors have been characterized: beta 1, beta 2, and beta 3.

An Anti‐Amyloidogenic Approach to Specifically Block Memory Consolidation in Mice for Therapeutic Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Functional amyloid conversion of the translation regulator CPEB3 is essential for long‐term memory persistence. This study demonstrates that targeting this molecular switch with the anti‐amyloidogenic peptide QBP1 selectively blocks CPEB3 fibrillation without disrupting phase separation.

Gonadotropin‐Inhibitory Hormone (GnIH) and Its Receptor GPR147 Mediates Acute Stress‐Induced Activation of the Locus Coeruleus‐SAM Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gonadotropin‐inhibitory hormone (GnIH, also known as RFamide‐related peptide‐3, RFRP‐3) is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that regulates vertebrate reproduction via its receptor GPR147. Although GnIH is known to mediate stress‐induced reproductive suppression, its role in broader stress responses remains unclear.

Role of Beta 3 Adrenergic Receptor in Facultative Thermogenesis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2013
Obesity, characterized by an increase in body fat, is related to a defect in facultative thermogenesis (FT). Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is the main site of this FT and is activated by Sympathetic Nervous System through the release of norepinephrine (NE) that binds to Beta adrenergic receptors (B‐ADR).

The β-adrenergic receptors

open access: yes, 2002
Background: The {beta}-adrenergic receptors of the myocardium play an important role in the regulation of heart function. The {beta}-adrenergic receptors belong to the family of G-protein coupled receptors. Three subtypes have been distinguished ({beta}1-

A Critical Time Window of Neocortex Modulation for Remote Fear Memory in Rats and Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a delayed consolidation window around 18 h after fear learning in the mPFC essential for remote fear memory. VTA dopaminergic input during this window sustains remote memory in rats, while non‐invasive stimulation of homologous human mPFC at the corresponding time selectively weakens remote but not recent fear memory, revealing a ...

A Micropeptide Component of the OGDH Complex Modulates ATP Production in the TCA Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified a mitochondrial micropeptide encoded by a non‐canonical open reading frame (alt‐ORF) within the CTSB gene. This micropeptide named APPM (ATP production‐promoting micropeptide) is a novel component of the OGDHc complex in the TCA cycle. APPM localizes to the inner mitochondrial membrane and directly binds to OGDH, the E1 subunit of

Beta-adrenergic receptors are critical for weight loss but not for other metabolic adaptations to the consumption of a ketogenic diet in male mice

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2017
Objective: We have previously shown that the consumption of a low-carbohydrate ketogenic diet (KD) by mice leads to a distinct physiologic state associated with weight loss, increased metabolic rate, and improved insulin sensitivity [1].

Targeted Disruption of the β3-Adrenergic Receptor Gene [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1995
beta 3-Adrenergic receptors (beta 3-ARs) are expressed predominantly in white and brown adipose tissue, and beta 3-selective agonists are potential anti-obesity drugs. However, the role of beta 3-ARs in normal physiology is unknown. To address this issue, homologous recombination was used to generate mice that lack beta 3-ARs.

Identification of functional alpha(2)- and beta-adrenergic receptors in mammalian spermatozoa

open access: yes, 2006
BACKGROUND: A recent study of several compounds, structurally related to amphetamine, provided evidence that mammalian spermatozoa might have adrenergic receptors able to regulate cAMP production.
