T-cell antigen receptors: fact and artefact
Immunology Today, 1983Much has been written to support the view that T-cell antigen-recognition molecules share idiotypes with immunoglobulin and are encoded in the same VH genes. Here Jacques Miller and his colleagues disbute this view and argue instead, from recent evidence, that the genes for T-cell receptors are entirely different from Ig genes.

Multimolecular associations of the T-cell antigen receptor
Trends in Cell Biology, 1992T cells are activated when the T-cell receptor for antigen (TCR) interacts with an antigenic peptide bound to a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule on the surface of another cell. It is often assumed that T-cell activation is induced by the crosslinking of TCRs.

T cell antigen receptor signal transduction
Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 1997The T cell antigen receptor (TCR) initiates signal transduction by activating multiple cytoplasmic protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs). Considerable progress in the field of TCR signal transduction has been made in three areas recently: first, in understanding the structure and function of the PTK ZAP-70; second, in the elucidation of the function of the ...

T cell antigen-receptor signal transduction
Current Opinion in Immunology, 1999During the past year, major progress has been made in understanding proximal TCR signal-transduction events. Cbl has been identified as a negative regulator of kinases from the ZAP-70/Syk family. Studies on LAT, SLP-76, Itk and Vav have revealed their role in the activation of Ras and phospholipase-Cgamma1-Ca2+ signalling pathways.

Kawasaki Disease and the T-Cell Antigen Receptor
Human Immunology, 1998We investigated the evidence for an infectious etiology of Kawasaki disease (KD), an acute vasculitis of unknown etiology, by assessing the effects of KD on the T cell antigen receptor variable beta region families (V beta). Using 3-color flow cytometry, we studied KD patients pre- and post-intravenous gamma globulin (IVIG) therapy and at > 40 days ...

Hierarchy of T cell antigen receptor assembly
Immunology & Cell Biology, 1995SummaryThe formation of partial complexes in an African green monkey kidney cell line (COS cells) has been used to examine assembly of newly synthesized T cell antigen receptor (TCR) chains. The identification of assembly interactions between multiple subunits and the formation of higher order subcomplexes has led to the development of a model for the ...

Function of the Antigen Receptor in T Cell Activation
1988The studies described here, including ours and those of others, were aimed at understanding the mechanism(s) by which the T cell antigen receptor transmits signals that result in expression of lymphokine genes. They have focused both on the proximal molecules and biochemical events that account for transmembrane signalling, as well as on the more ...

Molecular Genetics of T-Cell Antigen Receptors
Hospital Practice, 1988The immunoglobulin paradigm has led to characterization of genetic controls of the T-cell antigen receptor and has correctly predicted mechanisms for generating diversity. With the isolation of the T-cell antigen-receptor molecule and the genes that encode it, a major step has been taken toward understanding and treating a wide range of immune-related ...
