Hypertriglyceridemia: Lipoprotein Receptors and Atherosclerosis
1985We have shown first, that apoB mediates the binding of small VLDL Sf 20-60 and IDL, as well as LDL, to the LDL receptor. Second, apoE of an appropriate, accessible conformation is required for the binding of large VLDL to the LDL receptor; HTG-VLDL Sf greater than 60 but not normal VLDL Sf greater than 60 have this apoE population.

The low density lipoprotein receptor
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Biomembranes, 1989The study of familial hypercholesterolemia at the molecular level has led to its advancement from a clinical syndrome to a fascinating experimental system. FH was first described 50 years ago by Carl Müller who concluded that the disease produces high plasma cholesterol levels and myocardial infarctions in young people, and is transmitted as an ...

Lipoprotein receptors in oocyte growth
The Clinical Investigator, 1992The transport and removal of lipoproteins from the blood in the laying hen is of particular interest because it is a system in which the massive transport of lipid to one organ (the ovary) coexists with regulatory mechanisms for the control of lipid homeostasis in extraovarian tissues.

Chapter 6 Lipoprotein receptors
1987Publisher Summary This chapter highlights the structure and metabolic role of lipoprotein receptors. The low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor and the chylomicron remnant receptor play important roles in the normal catabolism of lipoproteins and in defense against atherosclerosis.
