Progesterone induces meiosis through two obligate co-receptors with PLA2 activity

open access: yeseLife
The steroid hormone progesterone (P4) regulates multiple aspects of reproductive and metabolic physiology. Classical P4 signaling operates through nuclear receptors that regulate transcription. In addition, P4 signals through membrane P4 receptors (mPRs)

IgG4-Related Disease Is Not Associated with Antibody to the Phospholipase A2 Receptor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rheumatology, 2012
Patients with IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) share histopathological characteristics that are similar across affected organs. The finding of infiltration with IgG4+ plasma cells in the proper clinical and histopathological contexts connects a large number of clinical entities that were viewed previously as separate conditions.

PFOA Exposure Elicits Quantitative Lipidomic Changes in the Pancreas in a Mouse Model of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the US and predicted to rise to second by 2030. Several risk factors have been identified as potential contributors to pancreatic cancer development including lifestyle factors and long‐term exposure to occupational and environmental carcinogens.

Sphingosylphosphorylcholine acts in an anti-inflammatory manner in renal mesangial cells by reducing interleukin-1β-induced prostaglandin E2 formation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
Sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC) is a bioactive lipid that binds to G protein-coupled-receptors and activates various signaling cascades. Here, we show that in renal mesangial cells, SPC not only activates various protein kinase cascades but also ...

Identification and Validation of Biomarkers in Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps and Study of Their Associated Mechanisms

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cell senescence (CS) and lipid metabolism (LM) disorders have been reported in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). However, the mechanism is still unclear. Methods Data were obtained from public databases; differential expression analysis and machine learning were performed to identify biomarkers and to understand the

Sequence of Immunological Events During IgE‐Mediated Allergic Reactions to Food

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food allergies (FA) represent a significant global health burden. Upon allergen re‐exposure, allergic patients exhibit a sequence of symptoms that vary in terms of affected organ systems, severity, time of onset and allergen reactivity thresholds.

Arachidonic acid and calcium metabolism in rnelittin stimulated neutrophils

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 1992
Melittin, the predominant fraction of bee venom proteins, was studied in an experimental model of human neutrophil granulocytes to reveal its influence on eicosanoid release, metabolism and receptor function in relation to intracellular calcium ...

Retinoid X receptor activation is essential for docosahexaenoic acid protection of retina photoreceptors

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
We have established that docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the major polyunsaturated fatty acid in the retina, promotes survival of rat retina photoreceptors during early development in vitro and upon oxidative stress by activating the ERK/MAPK signaling ...

Expression of phospholipase A2 receptor and IgG4 in patients with membranous nephropathy

open access: yesVascular Health and Risk Management, 2018
The aims of this study were to detect the expression of M phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) in the kidney tissue of patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), secondary membranous nephropathy (SMN), and the nonmembranous nephropathy (non-MN), to evaluate the value of PLA2R in the kidney tissue and serum anti-PLA2R antibody in the diagnosis ...
