Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Receptor Expression on Human Lymphoblasts

Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, 1992
This study was designed to determine which (if any) subtypes of leukemic blasts express a functional receptor for vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). Blasts harvested from bone marrow of 38 newly diagnosed patients were classified as acute lymphocytic leukemia (CALLA + pre-B-cell leukemia, CALLA-, pre-B-cell leukemia, T-cell leukemia) or acute myeloid

Vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor expression in chronic periapical lesions

International Endodontic Journal, 2007
AbstractAim  To use radioreceptor analysis for evaluating whether vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors are present in chronic periapical lesions and to determine whether differences in its expression are found according to the size of the lesions.Methodology  Twelve periapical lesions were obtained from teeth diagnosed with chronic apical ...

Characterization of vasoactive intestinal peptide receptors in human liver

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Cell Research, 1994
The stoichiometric, pharmacological and molecular properties of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors have been analyzed in human liver membranes and compared in parallel with those in rat liver membranes. The binding of [125I]VIP was rapid, saturable and specific.

Presence of Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Receptors in Nasal Mucosa

Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 1991
In recent years several tachykinins have been identified in the airway sensory nerves. Since the physiological and pathophysiological effects of neuropeptides depend on their functionally relevant concentrations and presence of specific receptors in the target tissue, specimens of enlarged turbinates and nasal polyps were removed in 11 patients and ...

Autoradiographic visualization of CNS receptors for vasoactive intestinal peptide

Peptides, 1986
Receptors for VIP were characterized in the rat CNS. 125I-VIP bound with high affinity to rat brain slices. Binding was time dependent and specific. Pharmacology studies indicated that specific 125I-VIP binding was inhibited with high affinity by VIP and low affinity by secretin and PHI.

Superactive lipophilic peptides discriminate multiple vasoactive intestinal peptide receptors.

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1995
To distinguish vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors in the brain-mediating neurotransmission and neurotrophism, potent VIP analogues were designed. Using a single amino acid substitution and the addition of a fatty acyl moiety, an analogue was devised that exhibited both a 100-fold greater potency than VIP and specificity for a VIP receptor ...

Assays for Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Receptor

1991
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the methods for characterization of the number and affinity of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptor sites on intact cells, in membrane preparations, and in solubilized membranes. The chapter also describes experiments for determining the pharmacologic specificity of peptide receptors, and for using ...

Expression of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors in human uterus

Peptides, 2000
We show the existence of functional vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors in normal human female genital tract (endometrium, myometrium, ovary and Fallopian tube) as well as in leiomyoma (a frequent uterine pathology). The correlation between VIP binding and stimulation of adenylyl cyclase activity for all studied tissues was linear (r = 0.86 ...
