Rational tangle surgery and Xer recombination on catenanes [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebr. Geom. Topol. 12 (2012) 1183-1210, 2011
The protein recombinase can change the knot type of circular DNA. The action of a recombinase converting one knot into another knot is normally mathematically modeled by band surgery. Band surgeries on a 2-bridge knot N((4mn-1)/(2m)) yielding a (2,2k)-torus link are characterized.

Evolution of the Immune Response against Recombinant Proteins (TcpA, TcpB, and FlaA) as a Candidate Subunit Cholera Vaccine

open access: yesJournal of Immunological Research, 2017
Vibrio cholerae is the causative agent of cholera and annually leads to death of thousands of people around the globe. Two factors in the pathogenesis of this bacterium are its pili and flagella.

NF-κB as the main node of resistance to receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors in triple-negative breast cancer

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2017
Graphical abstract Although accounting for merely a minute portion of diagnosed breast cancers, disproportionate number of deaths and associated low survival rate of patients have made triple-negative breast cancer to be considered as the most lethal ...

Simplifying recombinant protein production: Combining Golden Gate cloning with a standardized protein purification scheme [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Recombinant protein production is pivotal in molecular biology, enabling profound insights into cellular processes through biophysical, biochemical, and structural analyses of the purified samples. The demand for substantial biomolecule quantities often presents challenges, particularly for eukaryotic proteins.

Computational protein design with evolutionary-based and physics-inspired modeling: current and future synergies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Computational protein design facilitates discovery of novel proteins with prescribed structure and functionality. Exciting designs were recently reported using novel data-driven methodologies that can be roughly divided into two categories: evolutionary-based and physics-inspired approaches.

Display of recombinant proteins at the surface of lactic acid bacteria: strategies and applications

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2016
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are promising vectors of choice to deliver active molecules to mucosal tissues. They are recognized as safe by the World Health Organization and some strains have probiotic properties.

Porcine antibody profiles of 33 Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae fusion proteins from M. hyopneumoniae natural infection but not vaccination

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2023
Background Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, the primary pathogen responsible for porcine enzootic pneumonia, reduces average daily weight gain and causes substantial economic losses to the pig industry worldwide.

Development of a new platform for secretory production of recombinant proteins in Corynebacterium glutamicum

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, 2016
Corynebacterium glutamicum, which has been for long an industrial producer of various l‐amino acids, nucleic acids, and vitamins, is now also regarded as a potential host for the secretory production of recombinant proteins.

Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation: A New Strategy for Early-Stage Breast Cancer

open access: yesArchives of Breast Cancer, 2019
Background: Accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI) is defined as applying high doses of radiation with a shorter interval to the lumpectomy cavity in the setting of breast-conserving therapy for early-stage breast cancer.

Fusing the 3’UTR of seed storage protein genes leads to massive recombinant protein accumulation in seeds

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The demand for recombinant proteins is rising dramatically, and effective production systems are currently being developed. The production of recombinant proteins in plants is a promising approach due to its low cost and low risk of contamination of the ...
