Cultivar development of allogamous crops

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2011
Objectives of this review were to present the state of the art of the technologies used to develop cultivars in allogamous species, excluding the perennial and asexually propagated species.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Computer simulation of reciprocal recurrent selection with overdominant gene action

open access: yes, 1970
SUMMARYPrevious studies have shown that reciprocal recurrent selection (RRS) would be ineffective in the early cycles of selection if over-dominant loci were at equilibrium gene frequencies in both selected populations.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Means and variances of some characters in base populations, with emphasis on grain yield in soybean

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2002
The aim of this study was to evaluate in early generations of self-fertilization the potential of single, double and multiple crosses, as producers of base population for soybean breeding programs. The crosses.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Comparison of maize populations improved by recurrent selection

open access: yes, 1984
A diallel set of crosses among 10 synthetic varieties of maize (Zea mays L.) were evaluated in eight environments. All varieties, except BSSS, had undergone recurrent selection for either yield or pest resistance.

Genetic gain for grain yield and popping expansion in full-sib recurrent selection in popcorn

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology, 2002
A first cycle of full-sib recurrent selection was conducted in a popcorn base population, with the objective of improving popping expansion and grain yield as recommended in a previous study by Pereira and Amaral Júnior (2001).
