Rhabdomyolysis Related to Red Yeast Rice Ingestion
Red yeast rice is made by fermenting white rice with the fungus Monascus purpureus. It has lipid-lowering effects due to the presence of monacolin, produced by the fungus, and therefore shares the same biological and side effects as a statin, namely it may cause rhabdomyolysis.

Sub‐Nanometer Curvature Unlocks Quantum Orbital Flexoelectricity in Graphene
In self‐assembled, reproducible, large‐area, quasi‐pristine graphene nanowrinkles, extreme curvature forces out‐of‐plane π‐electrons toward hybridization, driving a transition from classical to quantum orbital flexoelectricity. As curvature approaches the fundamental physical limit set by the C─C bond length, the resulting polarization increases by ...

Elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration and irrigation management during rice and red rice growth on post-harvest grain quality [PDF]
: The increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration ([CO2]) can impact global food security. There are several rice types; the most consumed is white rice, and interest in pigmented rice is growing due to its health benefits.

Auto‐Downregulation of the Florigen FT Production Prevents Precocious Flowering in Plants
This study shows that the leaf vein‐expressed FD complexes with the florigen FT to bind DNA motifs in FT promoter, which antagonizes CONSTANS‐mediated FT activation to feedback down‐regulate FT expression. This prevents an excessive induction of FT expression by inductive photoperiods, thereby precluding precocious transition to flowering in ...

CHARACTERISTICS OF SHRIMP PASTE WITH RED YEAST RICE AS A NATURAL COLORANT
The use of synthetic dyes in food raises various health concerns, so the use of natural dyes as a substitute for synthetic dyes is a safer and more beneficial solution. One potential natural dye is red yeast rice produced by the fungus Monascus sp.

SERS Facemask for Rapid and Portable Sensing Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Antigens for TB Screening
Our study introduced an Au─Ag embedded covalent organic framework (U@COF) ‐mediated facemask for sensing TB antigen ESAT‐6/CFP‐10 complex in clinical droplet samples toward TB screening. Practical analysis of clinical samples demonstrated the availability of our facemask, which is capable of identifying the TB subjects (N = 17) from healthy candidates (
