Objective Bayes estimation and hypothesis testing : the reference-intrinsic approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Conventional frequentist solutions to point estimation and hypothesis testing typically need ad hoc modifications when dealing with non-regular models, and may prove to be misleading.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Normalized Power Prior Bayesian Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
The elicitation of power prior distributions is based on the availability of historical data, and is realized by raising the likelihood function of the historical data to a fractional power. However, an arbitrary positive constant before the like- lihood

Noninformative Priors for Multivariate Linear Calibration

open access: yes, 2000
This paper derives a class of first order probability matching priors and a complete catalog of the reference priors for the general multivariate linear calibration problem.

Improved Bayesian Inferences for Right-Censored Birnbaum–Saunders Data

open access: yesMathematics
This work focuses on making Bayesian inferences for the two-parameter Birnbaum–Saunders (BS) distribution in the presence of right-censored data. A flexible Gibbs sampler is employed to handle the censored BS data in this Bayesian work that relies on ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Reference-Guided Image Enhancement with Retinex Priors and Diffusion Models [PDF]

open access: yes
Image restoration, particularly low-light and compression artifact removal, remains a challenging problem due to severe loss of illumination, color distortion, and high-frequency detail degradation. Traditional methods often struggle to preserve semantic

Objective Priors for Invariant e-Values in the Presence of Nuisance Parameters

open access: yesEntropy
This paper aims to contribute to refining the e-values for testing precise hypotheses, especially when dealing with nuisance parameters, leveraging the effectiveness of asymptotic expansions of the posterior. The proposed approach offers the advantage of
