Transient Exposure of Enalapril Normalizes Prenatal Programming of Hypertension and Urinary Angiotensinogen Excretion. [PDF]
Maternal low protein diet programs offspring to develop hypertension as adults. Transient exposure to angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers can result in improvement in hypertension. Male rats whose mothers received

Effects of candesartan, an angiotensin II receptor type I blocker, on atrial remodeling in spontaneously hypertensive rats [PDF]
Hypertension-induced structural remodeling of the left atrium (LA) has been suggested to involve the renin–angiotensin system. This study investigated whether treatment with an angiotensin receptor blocker, candesartan, regresses atrial remodeling in ...

Antiangiogenic therapy with bevacizumab improves outcomes in ovarian cancer but induces hypertension, leading to major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). While calcium channel blockers (CCBs) and angiotensin‐converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) are recommended for managing bevacizumab‐associated hypertension, their impacts on cancer progression and ...

Inhibition of Trophoblast-Induced Spiral Artery Remodeling Reduces Placental Perfusion in Rat Pregnancy. [PDF]
Rats harboring the human angiotensinogen and human renin genes develop preeclamptic features in pregnancy. The preeclamptic rats exhibit a deeper trophoblast invasion associated with a reduced resistance index by uterine Doppler.

Hydralazine is a vasodilator typically used in the treatment of resistant hypertension and heart failure. N‐acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) catalyzes the metabolism of hydralazine into inactive metabolites. NAT2 poor metabolizers (historically referred to as “slow acetylators”) are predicted to have increased plasma hydralazine concentrations compared with ...

A new machine learning model for plasma volume (PV) estimation was applied within the ABP framework. PV estimation was applied through visual displays or corrected ABP thresholds. With a favorable assessment from ABP experts, these results support further application of this model in the presence of specific confounding factors.

Changes in renal WT-1 expression preceding hypertension development [PDF]
Background: Hypertension is a public health problem with mostly unknown causes, and where strong hereditary genetic alterations have not been fully elucidated. However, the use of experimental models has provided valuable information.

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...
