Multivariate linear regression to predict association of non‐invasive arterial stiffness with cardiovascular events

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1141-1150, April 2025.
Abstract Background Arterial stiffness is a crucial factor in determining an increase in systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure and can also predict the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between arterial stiffness and future CVD.

Evaluation of Lignan Compound Content and Bioactivity of Raw Omija and Sugared Omija in Serum of Sprague Dawley Rat

open access: yesFoods, 2019
This study evaluated the lignan contents of raw omija (R) and sugared omija (S), byproducts discarded after the use of raw omija, by HPLC and determined their bioactivity by feeding rats R and S for eight weeks. S retained 63% more lignan than R.

Renin-Angiotensin System [PDF]

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 1975
ALTHOUGH the names of Tigerstedt and Bergman1 are associated with the first description in 1898 of renin extracted from the kidney, it may come as a surprise that when Tigerstedt, who was the senior worker in the partnership and the Professor of Physiology in the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, died, there was no mention of renin in the various ...

The in‐hospital administration of sacubitril/valsartan in acute myocardial infarction: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 998-1012, April 2025.
In patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction related heart failure, the in‐hospital administration of ARNIs was associated with a reduced risk of MACEs and re‐hospitalizations for heart failure, as well as cardiac remodeling, compared to standard therapy.

Complex Role for E‐Prostanoid 4 Receptors in Hypertension

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2019
Background Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is a major prostanoid with multiple actions that potentially affect blood pressure (BP). PGE2 acts through 4 distinct E‐prostanoid (EP) receptor isoforms: EP1 to EP4.

Postural Changes in Blood Pressure Associated with Interactions between Candidate Genes for Chronic Respiratory Diseases and Exposure to Particulate Matter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
BACKGROUND. Fine particulate matter [aerodynamic diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5)] has been associated with autonomic dysregulation. OBJECTIVE. We hypothesized that PM2.5 influences postural changes in systolic blood pressure (ΔSBP) and in diastolic blood ...

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).
