Total Synthesis of Resolvin D5

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017
Resolvin D5 (RvD5) is a metabolite of docosahexanoic acid with anti-inflammatory activity that has not yet been thoroughly investigated because of its low biological availability. A synthetic route to optically active RvD5 was developed by assembling the C1-C10 aldehyde, C11-C13 phosphonium salt, and C14-C22 aldehyde building blocks.

Stereocontrolled synthesis of resolvin D1

Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2019
Four pieces were assembled by the reactions indicated, and the dehydro precursor was semi-hydrogenated to give resolvin D1 (RvD1).

Stereocontrolled Synthesis of Resolvin D4

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
The stereoselective synthesis of resolvin D4 (RvD4) was achieved using the Wittig reaction of the C1-C10 dienal with the known C11-C22 phosphonium salt. The ( S, E)-enantiomer ( S)-10, corresponding to the C1-C8 part, was synthesized in 95% ee by the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation reaction of the corresponding acetylenic ketone followed by Red-Al ...

Resolvin’ inflammation

Science Translational Medicine, 2016
Plaque progression was halted by inducing inflammation resolution in the blood vessel walls of a mouse model of atherosclerosis with the preresolving lipid mediator RvD1.

The utilisation of resolvins in medicine and tissue engineering

Acta Biomaterialia, 2022
Recent advances in the field of regenerative medicine and biomaterial science have highlighted the importance of controlling immune cell phenotypes at the biomaterial interface. These studies have clearly indicated that a rapid resolution of the inflammatory process, mediated by a switch in the macrophage population towards a reparative phenotype, is ...

Lipoxins, Resolvins, and the Resolution of Inflammation

2016
Resolution of acute inflammation is an active process, where endogenous specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPM), derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids via lipoxygenase (LO)-driven biochemical pathways, have pivotal roles in “turning off” pro-inflammatory signals, prompting timely resolution.

Lipoxins and resolvins in inflammatory bowel disease

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, 2007
Lipid mediators are important messengers in many physiological processes. The pro-inflammatory effect of many prostaglandins, derived from the essential arachidonic acid, are well established. However, there are also anti-inflammatory lipid mediators: lipoxins and resolvins, derived from essential omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 ...

Roles of resolvins in the resolution of acute inflammation

Cell Biology International, 2014
AbstractResolution is an active process that terminates inflammatory response to maintain health. Acute inflammation and its timely resolution are important in host response to danger signals. Unresolved inflammation is associated with widely recurrent diseases.
