Detection and characterization of Rickettsial strains in ticks from Sardinia, Italy [PDF]
The aim of this study was, firstly, to detect the presence of Rickettsial DNA by PCR and, then, to identify the Rickettsiae species using restriction endonuclease fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) on two amplified ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Outbreaks of Pneumocystis Pneumonia in 2 Renal Transplant Centers Linked to a Single Strain of Pneumocystis: Implications for Transmission and Virulence [PDF]
By restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, 2 outbreaks of Pneumocystis pneumonia in renal transplant patients in Europe were shown to be caused by the same strain of Pneumocystis; another outbreak in Japan was caused by a different ...

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

IDENTIFICATION OF GRAM-NEGATIVE BACTERIA OF FISH BY THE METHOD OF PCR-RFLP OF 16S rDNA GENE
The complex method of polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) targeting to the 16S rDNA gene was developed for identification of the most widespread gram-negative bacterias of fish. The specificity and efficiency

MITOCHONDRIAL DNA POLYMORPHISMS AND FERTILITY IN BEEF CATTLE [PDF]
Two regions of mitochondrial DNA, D-loop and ND-5 were characterized using polymerase chain reaction – restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) involving 422 beef cattle of Hereford and composite breeds from Wokalup’s ...

Direct amplification of nodD from community DNA reveals the genetic diversity of Rhizobium leguminosarum in soil [PDF]
Sequences of nodD, a gene found only in rhizobia, were amplified from total community DNA isolated from a pasture soil. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers used, Y5 and Y6, match nodD from Rhizobium leguminosarum biovar trifolii, R. leguminosarum

Genetic diversity among viruses associated with sugarcane mosaic disease in Tucumán, Argentina [PDF]
Sugarcane leaves with mosaic symptoms were collected in 2006--07 in Tucumán (Argentina) and analyzed by reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) and sequencing of a fragment of the Sugarcane

Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.
