Periodontitis and Periodontal Conditions in Systemically Healthy Children and Adolescents
ABSTRACT Objective To answer the PICoS question ‘in systemically healthy children and adolescents (Population), what are the main features of periodontitis, necrotising periodontal diseases (NPD) and other periodontal conditions (periodontal abscesses, endo‐periodontal lesions, traumatic occlusal forces, prosthesis‐ and tooth‐related factors ...

An investigation of the mechanism for embryonic uptake of retinol
Retinoic acid, sequestered from maternally-circulating retinol, is essential for vertebrate embryonic development. However, the mechanism underlying retinol transfer from mother to embryo is not fully understood.

ABSTRACT In a scenario with increasing cases of obesity and diabetes worldwide, branched‐chain amino acids (BCAA) metabolism has become an important factor in the understanding of these pathologies. More recently, its chronic high plasma levels have been postulated, alongside glucose, inflammatory factors, and other molecules, as an important ...

Abstract Aerobic exercise enhances physiological performance by activating metabolic systems, including glucose oxidation and fat metabolism. Cellular glucose predominantly flows through glycolysis (95–98%), whereas a smaller fraction (2–5%) enters the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway (HBP), generating UDP‐N‐acetylglucosamine.

Analyses of cytochrome P450 1a (CYP1A)‐knockout (KO) Javanese medaka (Oryzias javanicus) revealed that CYP1A is involved in glucose regulation and reproduction. In the KO fish, significant increases in hepatic transcripts of insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin genes, as well as elevated blood glucose, liver mass, and liver triglyceride levels ...

Ligand-dependent secretion of rat retinol-binding protein expressed in HeLa cells
A minigene encoding rat retinol-binding protein (RBP) was transfected into HeLa cells, which do not express endogenous RBP, transthyretin, or cellular retinol-binding protein.
