Effect of moderate alcohol consumption on parameters of reverse cholesterol transport in postmenopausal women

open access: yes, 2004
Background: Alcohol consumption is associated with increased high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels. One of the main antiatherogenic functions of HDL is reverse cholesterol transport.

UCHL3 Regulates Subgenomic Flaviviral RNA Condensates to Promote Virus Propagation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Flavivirus subgenomic RNAs (sfRNAs) antagonise antiviral defences, yet how sfRNAs are organized and maintained in cells remains poorly understood. Here we identify ubiquitin C‐terminal hydrolase L3 (UCHL3) as a post‐translational regulator of flavivirus sfRNA stability and function.

Regulation of human CETP gene expression

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) is a key factor in plasma reverse cholesterol transport and is implicated in the pathophysiology of atherogenic dyslipidemia.

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Role of LCAT in HDL remodeling: investigation of LCAT deficiency states

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2007
To better understand the role of LCAT in HDL metabolism, we compared HDL subpopulations in subjects with homozygous (n = 11) and heterozygous (n = 11) LCAT deficiency with controls (n = 22). Distribution and concentrations of apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I)-,

Atheroprotective Reverse Cholesterol Transport Pathway Is Defective in Familial Hypercholesterolemia

open access: yes, 2011
Objective— Low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels are frequently observed in familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) and might be associated with functional alterations of HDL particles that may influence their ...

Cross‐Modal Denoising and Integration of Spatial Multi‐Omics Data with CANDIES

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this paper, we introduce CANDIES, which leverages a conditional diffusion model and contrastive learning to effectively denoise and integrate spatial multi‐omics data. We conduct extensive evaluations on diverse synthetic and real datasets, CANDIES shows superior performance on various downstream tasks, including denoising, spatial domain ...

Cholesterol metabolism: physiological regulation and diseases

open access: yesMedComm
Cholesterol homeostasis is crucial for cellular and systemic function. The disorder of cholesterol metabolism not only accelerates the onset of cardiovascular disease (CVD) but is also the fundamental cause of other ailments.

The High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Hypothesis Revisited

open access: yesIndonesian Biomedical Journal, 2018
BACKGROUND: The strong inverse association of plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) with coronary heart disease (CHD) found in human epidemiological studies led to the development of the ‘HDL-C hypothesis’, which posits that ...

Endogenous Engineering Reprograms Extracellular Vesicles for Enhanced Therapeutic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explains how Extracellular vesicles‐producing cells can be endogenously engineered to load therapeutic proteins and nucleic acids. We summarize physiological and genetic strategies that harness native sorting pathways for selective cargo loading.
