Maximum longevity and juvenile mortality in zoo‐housed mangabeys

open access: yesZoo Biology, Volume 41, Issue 6, Page 522-532, November/December 2022., 2022
The international studbooks of two Lophocebus mangabey species were analyzed. Sex, as well as traits of the mother, serve as proxies for the maximum longevity of individuals. Also, intercontinental differences in cumulative survival rates seem to exist for the captive populations of these mangabeys; underlying effects remain to be discovered.

Ocular conjunctival inoculation of SARS-CoV-2 can cause mild COVID-19 in rhesus macaques

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is highly transmitted through the respiratory route, but potential extra-respiratory routes of SARS-CoV-2 transmission remain uncertain.

Successful treatment of COVID‐19‐related acute respiratory distress syndrome with a rare blood type: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is indispensable for critically severe COVID‐19 patients. However, it would be inapplicable to patients with a rare blood type or blood transfusion refusal. In that case, severely conservative fluid management with the

The spectrum of ABO and rhesus blood group systems in a blood center in Southern Karnataka

open access: yesActa Medica International, 2023
Introduction: Hereditary characteristics, such as ABO and Rhesus (Rh) blood group antigens, are helpful for population genetic studies, for settling medicolegal disputes, and most vitally immunologic safety of blood during transfusion.

Assessment of rhesus and kell blood group antigens, phenotypes, and their allelic frequencies in North Indian blood donors

open access: yesAsian Journal of Transfusion Science, 2020
Background: Prevalence of rhesus (Rh) and Kell antigens in a population vary with race, ethnicity, and geographical location. With advances in immunohematology, non-D antigens, and their corresponding antibodies are increasingly being found to be ...

Molecular methods in identifying the true grouping of erythrocytes in patients with blood system diseases before transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells and their donors

open access: yesОнкогематология, 2022
Background. when transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) is performing, it is necessary to take into account the incompatibility of the donor and recipient in terms of erythrocyte antigens in order to assess the possibility of immunological ...

Bifurcation-based parameter tuning in a model of the GnRH pulse and surge generator [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems 8, 4 (2009) 1591?1631, 2008
We investigate a model of the GnRH pulse and surge generator, with the definite aim of constraining the model GnRH output with respect to a physiologically relevant list of specifications. The alternating pulse and surge pattern of secretion results from the interaction between a GnRH secreting system and a regulating system exhibiting fast-slow ...
