Frequency, Burden and Pathogens of Acute Respiratory Illness in Very Preterm Infants During Infancy
ABSTRACT Aim To describe the frequency, burden, and pathogen profile of acute respiratory illnesses (ARIs) in very preterm infants during the first year after neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) discharge. Methods Very preterm infants were followed prospectively (August 2015–January 2017) with monthly assessments of symptoms, medication use, and ...

An outbreak of rhinovirus infection in a primary school in Shenyang City, China, in 2022
Rhinovirus (RV) is a common pathogen that causes respiratory tract infection and can cause outbreaks in hospitals and welfare institutions. A cluster of respiratory diseases occurred in a primary school in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China, in 2022.

Role of Rhinovirus C in Apparently Life-Threatening Events in Infants, Spain
To assess whether infants hospitalized after an apparently life-threatening event had an associated respiratory virus infection, we analyzed nasopharyngeal aspirates from 16 patients.

ABSTRACT Aim The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a predominant aetiology of early‐life respiratory infections. This systematic review and meta‐analysis compared the cell types involved in airways inflammation in children with and without RSV, noting that immune responses can influence long‐term complications and may involve different inflammatory ...

Summary Glofitamab was investigated with obinutuzumab/rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (G/R‐CHOP) in patients with relapsed/refractory B‐cell non‐Hodgkin lymphoma (B‐NHL) who had ≥1 prior obinutuzumab/rituximab‐containing therapy (NCT03467373). The primary end‐point was to determine the optimal biological dose of

Long Non‐Coding RNA, Like NEAT1 and MALAT1, in Asthma: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential
Long non‐coding RNA, like NEAT1 and MALAT1, is emerging as a regulator of asthma‐related inflammation, airway remodelling, viral responses and cell death pathways, and are promising targets for future therapeutics. ABSTRACT Asthma affects millions worldwide. Long non‐coding RNA (lncRNA) are emerging as important factors in the pathophysiology of asthma

Rhinovirus – From bench to bedside
Rhinovirus has been neglected in the past because it was generally perceived as a respiratory virus only capable of causing mild common cold. Contemporary epidemiological studies using molecular assays have shown that rhinovirus is frequently detected in

Unraveling the active site cover of coproheme decarboxylase from Listeria monocytogenes
During heme biosynthesis in Gram‐positive bacteria, coproheme decarboxylase (ChdC) catalyzes the conversion of four‐propionate substrate coproheme to the two propionate product heme b. Its active site is universally covered by a flexible linking loop. This study identifies an important histidine residue, which stabilizes the loop in a ChdC homolog.

Rhinoviruses as Pathogens of the Lower Respiratory Tract
Rhinoviruses (RVs) are the most common upper respiratory pathogens, inducing the majority of common colds worldwide. RV-related morbidity, although significant cumulatively, has been considered trivial for the individual patient.

The Imbalance Between Tumor Immunosurveillance and Tumor Immune Escape in Glioblastoma
(Left)The identification and elimination of tumour cells is enabled by the infiltration of functional innate and adaptive immune effectors into the TME, such as natural killer cells (NK cells) and cytotoxic T cells (CD8 T cells). Effective innate and adaptive immune responses facilitate immunological control of malignant outgrowth.
