Frizzled Proteins are bona fide G Protein-Coupled Receptors [PDF]
Receptors of the Frizzled family initiate Wnt ligand-dependent signaling controlling multiple steps in organism development and highly conserved in evolution. Misactivation of the Wnt/Frizzled signaling is cancerogenic.

The cationic region of Rhes mediates its interactions with specific Gβ subunits [PDF]
Ras homologue enriched in striatum (Rhes) is a small monomeric G protein which functions in a variety of cellular processes, including attenuation of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)signalling.

Novel role of Ras-GTPase Activating Protein SH3 Domain-Binding Protein G3BP in adhesion and migration of 32D myeloid progenitor cells [PDF]
Rho GTPases are involved in homing and mobilization of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells due to their impact on cytoskeleton remodeling. We have previously shown that inhibition of Rho, Rac and Cdc42 clearly impairs adhesion of normal and leukemic ...

Protein import into chloroplasts: new aspects of a well-known topic [PDF]
Protein import into plant chloroplasts is a fascinating topic that is being investigated by many research groups. Since the majority of chloroplast proteins are synthesised as precursor proteins in the cytosol, they have to be posttranslationally ...

The GAPs, GEFs, and GDIs of heterotrimeric G-protein alpha subunits
The heterotrimeric G-protein alpha subunit has long been considered a bimodal, GTP-hydrolyzing switch controlling the duration of signal transduction by seven-transmembrane domain (7TM) cell-surface receptors.

Sensor potency of the moonlighting enzyme-decorated cytoskeleton [PDF]
Background: There is extensive evidence for the interaction of metabolic enzymes with the eukaryotic cytoskeleton. The significance of these interactions is far from clear.

In HL60 cells, the membrane-bound phospholipase D (PLD) was stimulated by 4beta-phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) in the presence of the cytosolic fraction from HL60 cells or rat brain. The cytosolic factor for this PMA-induced PLD activation was subjected to purification from rat brain by sequential chromatographies.

Preprotein recognition and translocation by the Toc complex [PDF]
Preproptein recognition and translocation across the outer envelope membrane of plastids is catalysed by a proteinaceous machinery, called Toc translocon.

G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2-mediated phosphorylation of ezrin is required for G protein-coupled receptor-dependent reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton [PDF]
G protein-coupled receptor kinase 2 (GRK2) phosphorylates and desensitizes activated G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Here, we identify ezrin as a novel non-GPCR substrate of GRK2. GRK2 phosphorylates glutathione S-transferase (GST)-ezrin, but not an
