A series of 2’‐deoxyribonucleoside 5’‐O‐triphosphates bearing functional groups of amino acid side chains in enzyme active sites (OH, SH, COOH, and imidazole) were synthesized and used for enzymatic synthesis of hypermodified DNA displaying these substituents in the major groove mimicking peptides or proteins. Abstract We designed and synthesized a set

First report on 7‐membered cyclic nucleotides, 2',3'‐cNTDPs, obtained from all‐natural free ribonucleosides in robust, step‐economic synthesis involving instantaneous and regio‐selective reaction. DFT calculations confirmed the feasibility of 7‐membered cyclic nucleotide formation and deciphered the basis for regioselectivity.

Alkbh8 Regulates Selenocysteine-Protein Expression to Protect against Reactive Oxygen Species Damage [PDF]
Environmental and metabolic sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can damage DNA, proteins and lipids to promote disease. Regulation of gene expression can prevent this damage and can include increased transcription, translation and post translational

The degradation of nucleobases, ribonucleosides and ribonucleotides with ozone was examined as a model of the action of ozone on nucleic acids. The degradation rates of nucleobases were in the following order : G, T>U>C>A. Nucleosides and nucleotides were degraded in the same order as in the corresponding nucleobases.
